Horizont

Nordic Seafood Restaurant with asian influence. The restaurant HORIZONT offers also california sushi. In the summer you can sit outside and enjoy the direct seaview.

This beautiful, modern Hotel Restaurant is situated in a wonderful location by the sea, in the charming German town of Timmendorfer Strand. The food is international with a strong Oriental inspiration which makes it very interesting as well as delicious: the Tempura jumbo prawns were fabolous, the selection of fish was incredible too. The wine was chilled to perfection and the service fast, professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Arsien Sushi Art

Best Sushi in town. No doubt...

Was looking for sushi in Lübeck and chanced upon this new place. While most places offer sushi as a sideline (with Chinese, Thai and more pan-Asian foods on offer - and none executed correctly), this shop focuses on one thing. And that is good in my books. The sushi is really spot on. Lived in Japan and eat sushi in many places - this is top notch even compared to restaurants in much larger cities. Fish very fresh, rolls are nice and tight, sushi options are classics and some more inventive variants. And the soy sauce (made inhouse) is an absolute star. Presentation good too. Not crazy about the wasabi served, but overall a real culinary delight.Nice interior, even though not Japanese as you might expect. The host is very attentive and makes every guest feel welcome with personalized attention. The other servers are friendly too, but maybe lack experience and polish yet. Overall, the service is a point that needs improving. Many items on the menu were unavailable (it doesn't cost that much updating the card) which is disappointing. Also wanted one of the great sounding cocktails. Server said none were available and instead I could have a "surprise" cocktail matched with my sushi with a choice of sweet/sour/bitter flavor. I really don't get the concept there and skipped the drink then. A "surprise" cocktail in a place not specializing in cocktails for 9€? No, thanks. Just edit the drinks menu and list out cocktails you can serve - and TELL people what they are. Food was a rather long wait - kitchen seems to be a big bottle neck and processes overall need improving. Overall - place is a clear winner. Very full on a Tuesday night - for a good reason. You don't find much sushi like that in Europe, so the service hiccups are forgiven mostly...

Buddha Bowl

It was late lunch and it was hard to get seated. The interior is impressive. It's pretty big inside so I was a little concerned but... we wanted some kind of Asian food to break up the German fare. Amalgam of sushi, Indonesian, Thai.... you name it. Hard to get attention from waitress but she was fine once we got her for our order. The food is not "authentic" anything. It is very dressed up and feels overdone. The price of lunch specials was decent, esp. with portion size. Neither of us liked our food however and the proteins had a weird texture. Prices were high for drinks (not beer). I wouldn't go again.
