Reviews on Japanese food in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Montreal, the "City of a Hundred Steeples." A versatile mix of old-world charm and new age innovation, where the modern skyscrapers of Downtown dovetail into the gorgeous stone-facades of the 18th-century Old Port. Ripe with culture and green spaces, its diverse community populates chic bistros and designer boutiques, indulging in enviable coffee along gallery-lined streets and on waterside terraces. A vibrant nightlife sees friendly crowds packing into nightclubs for a dance or to public squares for concerts and performance art. The city's environs offer skiing and skating, hiking and swimming within its limits. From high-flying roller coasters to low-key wine bars, Montreal has a fabulous artistic and theatre scene, interactive and innovative museums, a lively outdoor sporting culture, and a heroic culinary style that makes it difficult to imagine ever growing bored. Each neighborhood has its own distinct flair and forte, and exploring them all is sure to create lasting memories.

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner. Everything was superb. The ambiance was great. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding—we had edamame with sea salt, miso soup, seaweed salad, sashimi and a roll. Everything was very fresh and top quality. We also had an excellent Rioja that was spectacular for the price. They brought a complementary desert for my birthday which was special. We will be back every time we are in Montreal.

Visited Yokato Yokabai Ramen in August 2019 for dinner. It’s an authentic Japanese ramen shop in plateau, a bit away from downtown. Many cool restaurants and cafes in the area. Ramen was very authentic and good taste. So far the best ramen I have tried in Montréal.

The sake is good. The appetite, too. The curry rice bowl is not impressing, not cheap either. As I said before, when selecting a restaurant from a foreign country one should be careful because now there are lots of Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Indian restaurants on saint Catherine, among which many are only providing good by family members. The geniun ones always have professional cooks whom are well paid, so they make good food to attract dinners always.
