We were staying overnight at one of the nice cozy Japanese-style B&Bs around the grassy meadow just below Moegi no Mura and as our host had suggested we go out for dinner and have his home-made breakfast in the morning, we walked up the hill and discovered the Kougem Shokudo. The menu and prices looked inviting and we went in for what turned out to be a hearty "teishoku" style meal with enough variety for all 4 of us, including two first-time visitors to Japan. This proved to be just the kind of relaxed but traditional teishoku we all wanted and hats off to the staff for this nice meal in a lovely garden-like setting. As Japanese reviewers have noted it is NOT on the main road that can be fairly well trafficked on weekends, but only 30 seconds inside just below Moegi.

Nice Japanese style izakaya in Nobeyama area. It is in the middle of the fields, a little bit out of the way from the train station, so you need your own wheels. Food is very good and you can enjoy fresh vegetables in large amounts.
