We were on our way to Showa Kinen Park and was looking for a place for lunch. This restaurant is in a residential neighborhood. It is run by 3 very nice ladies with the chef busy grilling the unagi in the front window. There is no English menu and the ladies speak very limited English. Basically just order the set and if you are adventurous to try the deep fried bones or grilled liver just show them the pictures.

We had a really nice evening in this quiet restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Kimura building. It's not super easy to find. There's a small green sign that says Watanabe in hiragana by the entrance. The food is fresh tempura, though sashimi is also available. It is prepared and presented in front of you. You can let the chef just pick a few things and you can also indicate dietary preferences or restrictions. The presentation is as amazing as the taste of the food.Go with a few friends to enjoy the evening together.

Another wonderful restaurant in Japan. Fresh and delicious. Plenty of food options and lots of choices.

Had dinner here one evening with two sushi eaters and one non-sushi eater. You start by locking your shoes in a small locker before entering the restaurant. The first thing you notice when entering the place is that it is clean and well lit with a classy modern feel to it. We ordered sushi for the fish eaters and tempura veggies and chicken skewers for our non-sushi eater. Everything tasted fresh and was of good quality. The servers had very limited English abilities so the availability of an English menu was very helpful. It seemed they had just one English menu because we were asked to share it with another table. Pricing was reasonable, but this is not an inexpensive place to eat. Service was prompt once we realized that pressing the button on your table is standard practice when you are ready to order and when you are ready to pay your bill. This wasn't the best sushi we had during our 2 weeks in Japan, but it was definitely in the upper tier of the several places we tried. I can't imagine you won't find something you like here.

According to their website, this sushi chain first opened in Tsukiji in 1924 and has branched out to 25 locations mainly in the Kanto area. We had their special "kaisen-don" lunch set (raw seafood rice bowl), which came with chawan mushi (savory egg custard), miso soup, and sticky rice balls in bean sauce for dessert, all for a very affordable 1080 yen. I would like to come back soon and try their dinner courses as well.

Taste: 8/10Price: 7/10Ease of access: 6/10Service: 7/10Cleanliness: 9/10Atmosphere: 9/10This restaurant is relatively close to the Kunitachi train station (å½ç«é§ ), but not exactly easy to find. It's about a 3-minute walk south from the station (refer to Google Maps) and is one floor above a sign showing what looks like a yellow Smurf peeing (refer to picture attached); I kid you not.Inside the restaurant, you can either take a seat at the counter, or take off your shoes and sit at a table, Japanese-style. Staff are friendly, and some of them have a slightly better command of English than the average waitress since they are actually students from the nearby Hitotsubashi University (ä¸æ©å¤§å¦). It takes a while though for food to arrive. Now comes the ultimate question; is this restaurant value for money? I'd say yes. Perhaps this paragraph is better of at the top; the tempura here is seriously outstanding. It's not a joke; so enormous is the food, it's impossible to eat without moving the fried prawn/vegetables/whatever else it is that you ordered off the top of the bowl so you can actually eat the rice. And it's great that they're generous with the serving, because the tempura is absolutely amazing. I came with a lecturer from the above-mentioned university (do check out the campus, it's beautiful especially in spring or fall), and he recommended the tempura instead of sashimi. No regrets. If you're looking for good tempura, look no further. All aboard the Fukagawa fishing boat!

Go here is you want some good wagyu at a decent price. The restaraunt was a little further from the downtown area but still within walking distance from Tachikawa Station. I ordered a 5 course meal for $75. I was not upset. It contained: 1) salad 2) cheese/toast appetizers 3) Salmon/mash potatoes 4) Wagyu / egg salad 5) Japanese pancake (veggie/pork). It was my dates birthday so I told the chef, they served her a dessert with a sparkly candle and some cutesy artwork on the plate, they also took a picture of us and put it on a nice foldout memento for us. The ingredients are quality and since itâs not located in a high rise tower the price point is not bad considering what we were served. Go here you wonât be disappointed. Make sure youâre hungry if you go with the 5 course meal, it was essentially three full meals.
