First of all, the name is confusing, because everyplace I look it is called something different. On this website, it is called "Sogo Steakhouse." On the restaurant itself, it says "Sogo Hibachi & Sushi," whereas my receipt says "Sogo Asian Fusion Cuisine," so you go figure it out! Anyway, I had never dined here before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. At 12:00 noon, I was the only person in the restaurant. But I ordered something that I enjoy at another local restaurant, which was the lettuce wraps (filled with a chicken-based filling). I thought that is was pretty good...not the best in Rochester but still pretty tasty. I asked for the Srirachi (spelling?) sauce and some extra soy sauce, which improved the overall taste. The dressing on the salad, by the way, was wonderful. Also, I have to put in a plug for my waitress. I never got her name, but she was so friendly...improved the entire meal. I would go back here if in the neighborhood at lunch hour. Not worth a special drive, but still very good.

If you are interested in some of the best sushi/sashimi in the Rochester area, this is your place. Very well done, extensive menu, much more on the sushi/sashimi side versus anything else. Lots of good traditional Japanese food on the menu: many choices of rolls, miso, gyoza, katsu don, yaki soba, hibachi, tempura, etc. Good number of seats and booths/tables plus a good sized bar. Full bar supply plus good choices of sakes and beers. And the staff, quite good: Chinese family with two children...really very focused on the customer. Highly recommended.

We were happy to have stumbled upon Asian Buffet. There is PLENTY of food here, lots and lots of steam trays of differing items, some way over-sauced, some sitting in oil, but most was flavorful, and frequently re-filled. The cut up fruit was especially good. Used dishes were removed and water glasses refreshed quickly. The only negatives, aside from the oiliness and sauciness, was that the sushi chef was particularly unfriendly. Maybe it was a language issue.

Joined friends for dinner. Husband and I enjoyed Titos/cranberry cocktails ($7 regular, $9 tall), and then split the sushi/sashimi platter for two ($50) which came with two soups and two salads. Chef's choice for rolls; disappointed as we received what looked and tasted like 2 spicy tuna rolls - variety? Receiving two of the same thing was not expected; wished we had ordered separate roll choices and skipped the platter due to the duplication. Server was Alex, who was pleasant but seemingly spread too thin. Very loud as every seat at the four hibachi grills were filled - loud patrons. Overall average experience. Better local sushi options available elsewhere.
We have gone here often. The portions are very good. We like the teriyaki chicken with noodles and veggies. We always get the extra portion of chicken and extra sauce. The taste and consistency are very good. We are sorry to see that their VIP cards for frequent customers is being discontinued at the end of August. Hope they bring it back.
