This restaurant came recommended by a local acquaintance who lives in the neighborhood - one of his regular haunts; and I can totally understand why. Itâs one of those homely restaurants with such fine quality food prepared with a touch of class (revealing the owner-chef Kinjo-sanâs previous experience in some fine dining hotel restaurants). Some of his own special creations have been on the menu since he started Tenpusu more than 10 years ago. As this was our first time there, we wanted to leave it to him to surprise us and so opted for an omakase meal. We were totally blown away by the variety of dishes he whipped up for us. Every dish was superb from the seared coral trout and octopus sashimi, to the tempura prawns (with a spring roll batter), to the deep fried pork trotters in special vinegar sauce and the perfectly steamed oysters - every single dish was simply delicious! As we were there early and their first customers at opening, Kinjo-san and his sous-chef even took the trouble to enthusiastically explain every dish to us through the help of a translation App. This certainly goes down as one of the best dining experience we had in Okinawa, and we would definitely go back again if ever we are back for another holiday!

This soba shop is a great spot to visit when in the northern areas of the island. I grab a quick lunch when heading north for the day or, sometimes stop by returning from the northern areas and, wanting a light lunch. The place can fill up quickly with travelers and locals, as well. So, look at how crowded the parking lot seems before entering. The prices are reasonably low and the food is always delicious.

Aussie attending with my Japanese family, been to several restaurants trying Okinawan food, already. This one is located not far from our resort. My sister-in-law was not able to book a table in the evening, which gave the impression that it would be difficult to get a table. Not the case, when we arrived, there were plenty of empty tables. As I didn't pay to bill, I was unaware of the seating charge, but my wife says she saw a 350 yen per person charge listed. You don't find out till the end, so I don't feel it's a fair charge. We didn't encounter it, anywhere else. It is not a venue with a personaility, the staff aren't upbeat or cheerful, I guess you could say it is exciting as any fast food restaurant. We had tried different versions of the food in the other places on Okinawa. Seaweed, tofu, noodles, pork, chicken, carrots, egg and rice all feature in the meals we shared. The sea grapes were saltier here, but not unbearable. I love ice cold, sea grapes, though. The food was mainly fine, no real issues. Sorry about the captions on my photos, just what I could remember. I did have a really nice wheat beer called Helios Weizen which is imported into Okinawa, worth trying if you get the chance. The desserts were not all as they appeared in the description photos, some much smaller than expected. Recommended, if you are chasing a quick meal, before drinks elsewhere.

We had a fantastic shabushabu experience here last night. The food was fresh, delicious and came out in a reasonable amount of time for two very hungry customers! The staff made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed the conversations we had with our waitress who spoke very good English. I recommend one of the meal sets and some other dishes to accompany. We got the purple yam balls which were delicious! I believe this vegetable is unique to Okinawa so do give them a try. We would definitely go back. We weren't big shabushabu fans before, but we certainly are now!

We arrived around 6pm and managed to seated. The guy who attended to us spoke mandarin and showed us a Chinese menu. Ordering is simple - choose the size and amount of prawns and indicate how u want it done (sashimi, grilled or tempura style). The sides that came with the set was equally yummy. A must visit if you are a prawn lover.
