My office is in Hacienda Heights, Tamaya Japanese La Mei is very close to my office and I will go with friends or business associates periodically. The one locates in "Albertson's" center is the original store of Tamaya, they have another store in Alhambra. The quality of their La Mei is very good, my co-worker is a seafood lover, she always orders the "Seafood La Mei" and I like "Pork Katsu Curry La Mei" which is Japanese style pork chop in current broth; If you are a meat lover, they have la mei specially designed for the meat lover; If you are vegetarian, you can also find your choice of veggie la mei with a lot of vegetables and seaweeds; In hot summer, instead of the hot soup la mei, you can choose the seasonal cold la mei. Don't forget to order the trio ice cream after your hot noodles, you have green tea/vanilla and red bean - 3 flavors ice cream top with red beans sauce; Oh, the "La Mei of the month" with give you a bargain price with a little extra :)

You would never imagine valet parking in this strip mall in this part of town, but when you enter the restaurant you are transported to a completely different place! The restaurant is quite clean and modern. The service is a little slow during busy times, so I try to go between lunch and dinner. The food is amazing! So many different choices of Japanese and Mexican fusion! My favorite is the coconut seafood molcajete! Drinks are great, music is good, and the cooks can be entertaining too! Do not pass up an opportunity to try this place!

1st time in this place and family was impressed on how spacious the place was and capable of accommodating a lot of guest. The presentation was not that impressive but the mix of items placed in their differeng sushi was just right making it taste deliciously different from each other. The service was quick coz there were only a few tables occupied and it was almost closing. But there were still some guest who arrived even almost about to close which were still cordially accommodated. There were more selections to choose from the menu and were clearly described. They serve draft beer in the pitcher which is a lot cheaper than ordered by the glass. This placed was just recommended by my sister and she surely isn't wrong in saying that this place is better than the place where we used to go to. Will surely go back.

Been staying in the area for years and I’m so happy that there are finally a few fantastic higher end non-Chinese/Korean food selections in the hood. Love this place and the quality of the food has been surprisingly remarkable. Service is impeccable (at least the servers/table-side grillers that have served us the last few times). Omakase-style is perfect for the multitude of types of beef they serve and you can obviously order more of the stuff you like. It’s pricey but it’s a gem and don’t be turned off just because it’s not in a fancy neighborhood. Hope more restauranteurs will come to the area and open up restaurants like this one. Kudos.

Sunday Brunch runs from 11:00 to 2:00 and contains a huge array of food for every appetite. Not too pricey at $36.95 for what you get. The waitress starts you off with a juice, coffee and Champagne. Then make you way to your favorite type of food or as I did, all of them. There is an omelet table with dim sum next to it. Then proceed to the fresh fruits and American breakfast items. You might like the Salmon, shelled shrimp, or Alaskan crab legs. There is also a Chinese food selection and many types of Sushi. There is a pasta table where you can have your favorite type of pasta made. For the hearty eater go to the carving table for Korean ribs, Chinese roasted pig or yummy Filet Mignon. The dessert table has pre-made smoothies, a chocolate fountain, a crepe chef and an amazing array of desserts. You can't go wrong here. Excellent food and attentive servers.

My husband and I, we heard about this restaurant so we decided to try it out. This is a stand alone restaurant that located in an industrial area of Hacienda Heights. Small place with limited parking, however, it does have street parking. Expect line is long at lunch. We finally got a table after 30' wait. Menu has pictures of each type of soup. We ordered Chicken wings for appetizer, it's too oily and tasteless. Beside that, I tried # 17 (Nanchatte Tonkotsu ramen, very popular here), my husband got Ten-Shin Ramen (crab omelet noodle soup). My ramen soup tastes ok, just a bit creamy for me. My hubby ramen soup has very thick sauce, mostly corn starch. None of us could finished our soup. Service is fast. Every bill was circle on tips suggested area. LOL. We'll stick with Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata.

Like all the Yelpers say, Akasaka Sushi Restaurant has a legendary chirashi bowl that competes with, and sometimes better than those you can find in Japan. I've had some of the freshest fish and chirashi bowls at tsukiji market in Tokyo, and have to say that Akasaka makes a mean chirashi bowl that rivals the best chirashi bowls in the world. The freshness and presentation, along with the variety of raw seafood make this bowl one of the best I've ever had. While the quantity of sashimi and sushi is often never enough at most Japanese restaurants, $45 here will definitely leave you satisfied.

I should begin by saying that all personnel were courteous and friendly. I don't think the price is worth the food and the "show" performed by the cook. The food and serving size were average. The food comes in stages as it is cooked in front of customer. If you don't mind eating as food is placed on your plate then you will do ok. If you don't mind eating your food lukewarm then can wait for the dish to be completely served. I will give this restaurant a "fine dining" score because it is about $60 per person and that is with no alcoholic drinks and no dessert. It is family and wheelchair friendly. I must add that it is located at the very entrance of Sam's Club and parking near the restaurant may be difficult.
