Reviews on Japanese food in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. The former home of three of America's founding fathers, and the current home of the University of Virginia, the city of Charlottesville, Virginia is suffused with an appreciation of history and intellectual vigor. Take a tour of the university campus and walk through grassy malls and grand buildings designed by Thomas Jefferson, or peak into the dorm room once occupied by Edgar Allen Poe. The great homes of America's early presidents, Monroe, Jefferson and Madison, are also open to the public.

New Sake brewery and restaurant at the Ix Art Park stands out as an innovative spark to the wonderful âfoodieâ community in Charlottesville. Forget about your previous associations of Sake. Sake âNorth American Styleâ offers varieties like âSpicy Vacayâ and âSweet Agonyâ which infuse flavors like mango, lime leaf, jalapeño, and tart lemon. âSockyâ Sake is infused with fruit punch. My favorite was âBig Babyâ Which is unfiltered and cloudy and you are encouraged to âshake the baby.â And the food, OMG. We had the Tuna and Ora King Salmon poke bowl which was a generous serving and fantastic. The small plate appetizers were amazing. We enjoyed the koji crusted lamb and scallops en papillote.

The Miso soup was made with Red Miso which was a lovely surprise. They had fish on the Sushi/Sashimi menu i would not have expected, and the Sushi rice was Tokyo good.
