Tombolinos sits at the busy corner of Kimball and Yonkers Avenues. Parking seems somewhat limited -- a couple of unmarked spots just in front of the restaurant and metered street parking along Yonkers Ave. Inside, one is welcomed by a newly redecorated dining area with soft lighting, linen-clad tables, a wooden showcase and an alarmingly large TV that is sometimes distracting. We were the first dinner reservation for the evening and had the attention of the hostess, the new waitress and the restaurant manager for most of the evening. Water and bread were provided right away, and we were early enough to enjoy the mid-week happy hour prices which included $5 glasses of wine and reduced prices on appetizers. We selected the Burrata ($10) and two glasses of Cabernet to start. I typically love Burrata-based appetizers, as itâs hard to improve upon the gooey, creamy, rich pulled curd cheese. The cheese was served room temp and covered in a sweet balsamic reduction with cracked pepper, but the sliced tomato bed it sat on was hard and icicle cold, clearly just out of the fridge, and perhaps out of season. Sourcing good tomatoes during the winter can be a challenge, but serving them at the same temperature as the cheese requires just a little forethought. Our waitress was a young woman who was new to the restaurant and still learning the menu. She was however, extremely attentive and professional, as were all the staff that served us that evening. We really appreciated their vigilant, yet unobtrusive presence that ensured we didnât lack for anything throughout our dinner. A few small things that were a little disruptive to our experience: the music being piped in overhead was punctuated by loud commercials. The dining area we were in had a giant TV just behind us with sports playing. I would have preferred a more formal setting with fewer distractions.Although we spent some time looking through the menu, two of the specials presented to us caught our attention and we decided to give them a chance. The broiled leg of lamb served with risotto ($27) and an Agnolotti served with a Bolognese sauce ($22). The lamb was near perfect â tender, moist and falling off the bone, and the side of risotto was light, fluffy and mildly creamy. The stuffed pasta was also tasty, finished with a sweet tomato sauce and enhanced by the delicate flavor of truffle oil. Of course, a little Parmesan and cracked pepper on top is nearly irresistible on any dish. There were a few minor mistakes with the menu but these were totally forgivable as the waitress was in training and the kitchen resolved these issues quickly â almost not worth mentioning due to the excellent service. For dessert we were tempted by the tiramisu. This rendition was forward on the coffee flavor, but extremely watery. More so than any other version Iâve had. Tasty none-the-less, but I would have preferred an execution that was either a little more syrupy or a little drier. It was very nicely plated with a beautiful herringbone-patterned cream/chocolate/raspberry coulis on the side. We enjoyed our dining experience at Tombolinos and would definitely come back again.

Foodies and families welcome. We're Zuppa, the Italian restaurant you'll soon be telling all your friends about, but secretly hoping to keep all to yourself. Step through our doors and you'll find Old-World charm, exposed brick walls, and an expert staff
Our family of cousins had a lunch that was like an early dinner. We shared an appetizer of cured meats with different cheeses as well as a burrata appetizer. The pre-teens predictably ordered pizzas, which they enjoyed. The matriarch ordered pasta, which she was very pleased with. I ordered the skirt steak, which exceeded my expectations. It was marinated perfectly and grilled perfectly, exactly as I ordered it. While the wines on the list were pricey, the matriarch, who dines here frequently, requested a more reasonable bottle of white wine. A decent chardonnay was promptly provided. The bread was very good and the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked, although they were overly salty. The panna cotta was perhaps too "cotta" because it was more solid than creamy. Also, there was no vanilla ice cream. (How do you run out of vanilla ice cream???) And the website is sorely lacking - when you click on Menus and Lunch, you get a line that says (and I'm not joking): "I am text block. Click edit button to change this text. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo." This quote from Cicero is a standard placeholder text in mock-ups of visual design projects before the actual words are inserted into the finished product.

Arthur Avenue section of the Bronx. It was fantastic!
The Arthur Avenue/Belmont section of the Bronx is a NYC treasure and worth the detour. With Manhattanâs Little Italy nearly subsumed by Chinatown, this Bronx Little Italy delivers the goods. Our favorite restaurant is Antonioâs. Just off of Arthur Avenue, do not miss this restaurant. Each Boro has a throwback Italian restaurant. For us, this is the one in the Bronx. First and foremost, the food is excellent. Tasty, tasty, tasty. Service is excellent too and we enjoyed meeting Melissa when we ate there. If Marisa Tomei had a kid sister it would be Melissa, including the (authentic) attitude. All the Italian favorites are on the menu from fried calamari to several different parmigianas. Fish, chicken, meat and pasta of all types - served al dente - is well represented. We did not get around to the pizzas. Next time. And, what is an Italian meal without vino: our Montepulciano was delish and reasonably priced. Finally, from the time you walk in till the time you walk out you are family. I never shook so many hands in my life.

We had dinner on week night. Restaurant was not crowded or busy. Service was good and table cleared quickly. We ordered chopped salad, anti pasta with fried eggplant, special pork osobucco and linguine with clams. Pork was tender and moist with lots of flavor, wide loved linguini and chopped salad. Anti pasta was amazing, really tasty mozzarella, spicy pepper, egg plant and prosciutto was good with hard crust bread served with dinner. Tiramisu was made in house, was excellent, highly recommend. To address comments in reviews about cuisine mix of Swiss/Italian, having lived in both countries, schnitzel is popular through tour Europe and is not just a German food, and Switzerland shares borders and traditions of both these countries. Go ahead take a trip to Yonkers for this wonderful food.

At Carlo's Restaurant, a rustic-modern eatery serving Westchester County's most delicious and honest Italian-American fare, we cater to families and friends looking for good food and a warm, casual place to enjoy it. Each of our Northern Italian-inspired
Excellent for many reasons. Varied menu with both traditional Italian & interesting takes on traditional Italian. Great service in spite of an extremely busy environment weekdays & weekends. Great food, cooked to perfection. Comfortable second floor seating if the vibrant downstairs is too loud for your taste. This restaurant hits all the marks, all the time. I have never had a dish I didn't like nor an experience that wasn't fantastic. I would highly recommend Carlos without hesitation. Reservations are definitely recommended. This place does a very vibrant business most nights.

Crisp, light crust, savory/sweet sauce and exquisite, fresh cheese is a sure recipe for delicious pizza. But Frank Pepe beats the others in that it's always baked just right. We come here often and enjoy the delectable pies with mushrooms or other toppings. Go here!

Party of 3 on a weekday night. Place was full but we were seated promptly. First thing you notice is the noise. Everyone talking loudly but donât let this stop you from eating here. The food is very good. The portions are large. The service is good. The prices are very reasonable.
