Stopped by this restaurant looking for something for the children. Went inside and pleasantly surprised by the pizza selection and other courses. Pizzas were not too thin and pasta sauce was ideal. Clean plates all round. Excellent value for two adults and two kids. Will definitely be back

How many times, meeting tourists and travellers, italians and foreigners we hear one of the most popular questions: "What are the traditional recipes in Monferrato, and where we can taste them?".Invited by Mauro, chef and owner since 2013 of La Rocca Restaurant in the amazing small village of Camagna Monferrato, in via Matteotti 27, we are glad to finally get to know a great place to suggest to our visitors. Specialized in typical Monferrato food, the environment, the staff, the decorations, and even most of the customers are definitly local but the footprint is prepared to welcome any international guest.Located in front of the Municipality with an amazing view of the valleys and the hills, we enter in a building characterized by vaulted ceilings, walls exposed and decorated as an ancient house that many years ago was a kindergarten. Luisa, Mauro's wife, welcomes and invites us to visit the tavern with its typical tuff cellar "infernot", and the most recent one, with all kinds of wines, were we can see some bottles from 1915: 100 years old! In front of the stairs, on the wall, a quote from Oratius, in latin and italian, invites the "wine dreamer". Outside we can have a look at the dehors, and the view above the roofs of Camagna with the Alps as background and finally we can begin our journey into a true local experience. Caterina, Mauro and Luisa's daughter, is very kind, and step by step delights us with many surprises, first uncorking a 2008 Barbera del Monferrato Superior, "De Alessi" from Lu Monferrato. His name "Mepari" sounds in the local dialect as "My father" and the written in the back of the bottle dedicates the respect of the son for the parent that with his wisdom taught him the love for his homeland. The smell and the taste, strong and resolute, warm as the autumnal Monferrato's hills, has the right thickness to accompany the important plates that we are going to taste, and we start with the common habit of "Antipasti": many appetizers to tease the palate in a "crescendo".The first plate is a communion of: "Insalata Russa" (a mixed vegetable salad entangled in mayonnaise); "Vitello Tonnato" (calf slices that melt on the mouth, with tuna sauce and chapers); "Muletta di Crea" (special salami from Crea Monferrato) and "Capunet" (chicken roulade semi sweet filled with cheese and bacon). You could not believe but this is not the end (and in Monferrato this is the habit), so the second plate with appetizers comes: "Peperoni in Bagna Cauda" (grilled peppers covered by anchovies sauce) and an asparagus rounded by ham and bechamel. In the meantime, crunchy and fragrant bread-sticks married with every morsel and the wine increases every taste. Finally we can start and the "first" course arrives: "Agnolotti ai tre arrosti". You can see them, every piece of "pasta" different from the other one, as unmistakable sign of handmade and genuineness, filled with three different kind of roasted meat: rabbit, pork and calf. Unbelievable. The "main" course is something unimaginable. Weird and delicious at the same time, it is necessary to be tried by any gourmet. Piedmont "Fritto Misto" (mixed fried) comes from the ancient popular tradition. At that time, to waste as less as possible any kind of offal (liver, kidney, brains, veal sweetbread, sausage, etc...) was mixed together and fried with amaretti, sweet semolina, apples... The capacity of our stomachs is almost over but the dessert arrives and we cannot miss it: "Bavarese" (chocolate and vanilla pudding) and hazelnuts cake. Of course, the nuts are from Piedmont! To digest lastly: a short, strong Italian coffee, Limoncello, Mandarinello (as limoncello, but made from tangerines) and small sugar cubes under spirit with many different flavours: violet, liquorice, coffee... Every ingredient is local, and everything is home-made by the chef Mauro assisted by his mother. At the service his wife and the two daughters. All by the same family, and this is what stays in the mind and the belly after this wonderful experience: feeling of home and hearty food. It was as going for lunch to Mama: "Mama Monferrato!".Unfortunately, the choice for vegetarians is very small, and for vegan almost nonexistent, but Mama is like this and her traditions cannot be modified!

We stopped in the Osteria della Luna only one night, but found it to be a charming and authentic decor and ambience, pub-style atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. We recommend it to any travelers in the region around Vignale.Thank you very much! See you again!Osteria della Luna

I seldom had as much Funghi as at this Restaurant. ... even the portion of the fresh mushrom salad was too much. I eated all and I should know that it is difficult for my stomage. The wines (very special prosecco and excellent wine from the area) was delicious, else the starters and the meat. Wonderful panoramic view.

This amazing restaurant is located at the top of a hill in the tiny village of Vignale Monferrato. There's no menu & only one waiter. Once you are seated at your table the food starts arriving. In all there were 9 delicious courses. It was a memorable experience & really good value - our bill came to around â¬36 per person (not including wine).

Trattoria Serenella is at one corner of the main square, also next to the castle/palace park in Vignale. A small restaurant, typical Piemontese, small and simple - nothing pretentious here - but with that certain understated elegance that they do there, combined with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Each table had a small glass with some fresh roses on it. You walk in the dining room and think, "nice" and you want to stay. It's good you do; also typical Piemonte: fine food, well-prepared and presented, the kind of dishes you say "hey, you've got to try this!". Very good selection of wines. I look forward to going there again and I would say it's worth a detour. There was a bit of a chill in the breeze the day we went there so we chose to eat inside, but the location at the corner of the delightful piazza combined with the fine food would be wonderful on a warm evening. Very good value for money. Recommended

Four of us really enjoyed our visit with seemingly endless plates of delicious foods mostly from the region, and the upstairs consists partly of large rooms full of what must be one person's junk and another's treasures, just everyday items from the home, workshop and farms, from the last 50 and over years
