Knowing the original Basilico restaurant, it was a little frustrating to receive negative mojito (they did not have mint), a strawberry margarita (the strawberry was finished) and an orangeade ... the juice was over. Taste of food and attention of waiters was excellent, but not having enough assortment of supplies, was not as expected.Hi Huaxtecapam! First of all, we want to apologize for the inconveniences that you went through. We accept our fault and we are very sorry we made you have a bad time. Grupo Basilico is committed to our customers and in order to make a report for our directors, it would be great if you can give me more information like the day and the time you visited us. We hope you can give us another opportunity so we can treat you the way you deserve. Thank you very much for the information and your comments.

We were warmly greeted and treated to tastes of the prepared dishes for today's afternoon meal. As first-time guests we a small sample of Filetto di troda ala siciliana, Lasagna, Pollo alla siciliana and other dishes. I was in the mood for something for a simple and asked if the chef could prepare Angel hair pasta sauted olive oil and garlic. I also ordered Filetto di manzo ripeno in crosta, which is basically an Italian version of Beef Wellington. I paired my selections with a Chianti Placido Reserva 2005 and was not disappointed with the wine or my meal. The service was great and the food even better. We started off our meal with the Crostini Toscani. A meat sauce or lighly sauted tomatoes with a hint of cheese on a bed of romain lettuce with more tomatoes with a balsamic and olive oil dressing got our meal off to a good start.I was pleasantly surprised when our dishes began to arrive. There is nothing worse than over-done pasta and my angel hair pasta was a perferct al dente. The presentation of this simple dish I had requested that was not on the menu was improved by the Chef. Chef Andrea added herbs and other seasonings to create a nice blend of more complex tastes than I had expected. My Filetto di manzo rpieno in costa was tender and to the doneness or "termino" I had requested was perfect. The pastry enveloping the succulent beef loin was light and did not disctract you from the filling and tasty beef. It was accompanied by a portion of Lasagna, which I hardly tasted because my wife Elsa devoured, and a mix of vegetables in olive oil. I took the liberty of tasting the other plates ordered at our table and thought the creamed carrots were very good (I do enjoy my veggies) and the Filetto di troda ala siciliana, a pan-seared white fish filet, was appropriately light and flaky. In addition to finding a new favorite in Tampico Mexico I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Andrea Bartoli and his wife Saura Solero Bartoli the proprietors of this great little Italian restaurant.

From the owner's of La Dolce Vita, la Tarantella has become Tampico's favorite all-you-can-eat Italian buffet especially with its 2 for 1 promotion on Tuesdays at Ejercito Mexicano avenue location and Thursdays at downtown Tampico location. At roughly 10 USD per adult and 5 per child La Tarantella has taken the credit for making Italian food popular in the Tampico area, just like Kurai did with sushi. The buffet includes salads, pastas, pizza, calzone, and desserts. It's not a tray buffet, but rather a bar buffet where you request your dish and have it prepared for you. What I like about the pasta is that they have it pre-cooked and finish cooking it for a minute in boiling water while you choose your sauce at the bar, that way your dish is fresh and not an overcooked or dried pasta that has been in a tray for some time. There is also spinach & ricotta cannelloni but they are not on display, so don't forget to request them, they are really good. The ambiance is very nice and there is also a small playground for children. There is no a-la-carte service in the restaurant, but there is a take-away / delivery menu. No invoicing.

Mario, the owner, is around most of the time. He's been in Tampico for a while and does awesome pasta and some very good dishes both with meats and fish. Desserts are ok but nothing to brag about.

I have been to Peccato a few times and every time I have asked for different dishes, all of which have been wonderful. The service is good and prices are acceptable. A good lunch or dinner experience every time.

Excellent flavour, good location with parking, elegant casual dining with Italian salads, pizza and other main dishes. Try the Basilico Salad it is one of my favorites and leave room for the apple dessert.
