Reviews on Italian food in South Bend, Indiana, United States. The 150-year-old University of Notre Dame is South Bend's biggest tourist draw, and for good reason. Though it's not easy to land seats at the 80,000-plus-capacity Notre Dame Stadium for a "Fighting Irish" football game, you'll find plenty of attractions on the beautiful, expansive campus. Highlights include numerous works of art, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a replica of the famous shrine. Football fans will also want to visit the College Football Hall of Fame, which features interesting perspectives on the game and inductee videos. Whether or not you remember the Studebaker automobile, which saw its demise in the early sixties, you're sure to enjoy the Studebaker National Museum, featuring more than 75 vehicles drawn from the history of the company, beginning with horse-drawn carriages. South Bend has several fine museums, including the South Bend Regional Museum of Art and the Northern Indiana Center for History, a complex of four museums. Don't leave without trying truffles or fudge from the South Bend Chocolate Company.

Two of us went on a Saturday evening and suprisingly we did not haveto wait but were seated immediately. Sometimes that is a red flag aboutthe place - but not this time. There were other families in the place orderingmeals. But we ordered the Pizza Supreme thin crust. We did not have to wait long and the pizza was good - very tasty.Big mug of beer and a large glass of Soda.I would go again for pizzaAZ

Corner of Jefferson & Michigan. Downtown South Bend
We stopped at Bruno's Pizza for lunch. What we liked was that there were some lunch pizza specials. The pizza slices tasted good, though like all pizzas that are out, they are not nearly as good as their freshly made and eaten pizzas. The price was reasonable, the staff was friendly and the restaurant was very well-kept.

We stopped for here on a road trip from Wisconsin back home to Pittsburgh. So glad we did. The pizza and salad were outstanding! Mike and family are wonderful people who made us feel at home as soon as we walked in the door. We will definitely be coming back.

This place when you pull up to when you walk inside reminds me of a great restaurant downtown Chicago . Just the atmosphere in that places . The stories that could be told . While this place may not be my most favorite it does have some wonderful old world tasting pasta that may look normal but is phenomenal. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the salads were great . The service and attitudes the night we were there did not warrant a friendly place . From the rude experience of walking in and the way I was talked to in front of my group to the service we received was very sad . I donât know if we will be back even the the food was good .

Being from Western New York, we think we have the best pizza, so we weren't expecting too much when we stopped here for takeout on our way back from Colorado. Were we surprised! The pizza was delicious! My husband couldn't stop raving about it. Thin crust with just the right amount of sauce, cheese and toppings. It was 16 inches and we expected to take some home, but we ate the whole thing!

This was my first experience of this restaurant and didn't quite know what to expect. I certainly wasn't disappointed with the experience. The menu is varied including American, Mexican and Thai. Our food was delicious and our waitress was super friendly and efficient.

Parisiâs Ristorante Italiano, South Bend, Indiana, has been offering the most authentic Italian food and dining experience in Northern Indiana since 1981.
You can tell that this place is a local favorite. I would highly recommend a reservation. Food was authentic, homemade Italian, mainly pastas. I would recommend getting a table in the bar even though itâs quite small. Service was attentive and friendly. The meatballs as an appetizer are amazing and I canât say enough about the gnocchi with pesto and grilled chicken!! Wow! Great wine selection as well.

This is the best bakery in South Bend. A wonderful selection of Italian desserts, cookies (almond, raspberry fingers are the best:), cannolis, donuts, CAKES, and bread, TV bars, mousse, and more. We get our cakes for special occasions here - their raspberry-filled white cakes are fabulous. They do wonderful decorations. They have wedding cakes as well. They have a panini bar and a new pasta bar and both are wonderful! An amazing family-owned, family-run business. We stop for a treat as often as we can!

Carmela's is one of South Bend's most beloved fine dining establishments. Known for its Italian-influenced cuisine, Carmelaâs came to be when George Jr. Macri became intent on sharing his wifeâs phenomenal cooking with the public. Named after Georgeâs wif
Have eaten here a number of times and food generally good though there are options in town with better Italian food but less ambiance. Booked a celebration dinner here for a college graduation event and was very disappointed. I understand this was a high volume day(grad weekend plus proms) so wasn't surprised there was a different menu with different prices. However was offended to see a notice on the menu to "please limit your dining experience to 90 minutes so everyone can enjoy a Carmelas dining experience". Seriously? Patrons are booking large groups of customers eating appetizers, main course and dessert at celebrations for once in a lifetime events and they are being told there is a 90 minute stop clock running. In spite of this we heard people complaining at the desk that they were being kept waiting for reservations because "people hadn't left their table yet". We also observed that they had set up overflow seating in an adjacent deli area that totally lacked restaurant ambiance. The whole experience seemed to demonstrate that this restaurant was trying to squeeze every ounce of profit out of a high volume weekend with no regard for customer service. The colleges/universities whose families support this restaurant over 4 years deserve better.Hi there,Thank you for your feedback as it is very important to us. We are sorry to hear you were disappointed in your recent visit. As you mentioned, graduation weekend is an extremely high volume weekend for us as well as for many restaurants in the area.Reservation Timing- An hour and a half is typically the average amount + of time that guests spend at our restaurant in order to enjoy a full dining experience, which is based on data, not our opinion. As a restaurant that is reservations only for this high volume weekend, we do everything we can to ensure all parties have the opportunity to dine without feeling rushed. We certainly would've adjusted our scheduling system to ensure we did not book other reservations after had we expected longer. This would've allowed us to set reasonable expectations with the next reservation. This is not a demonstration of squeezing out profit as you state, rather fully managing and operating a high volume weekend successfully. Please know that we take our scheduling process very seriously and have invested a lot of time and money into services like OpenTable to assist. Thanks to these investments, moments like this are rare for us... but are also inevitable. We also realize and fully understand the frustration that can come from this as a guest that expects more than the allotted time.As for the party in the deli area... this was a party planned and intended for that area as the group requested and booked it months in advance. It was not "overflow seating" and the parties in there had previous arrangements to be seated in there throughout the weekend. We are disappointed that you felt rushed. We only ask that you try to understand our situation as well as we manage an evening with 250+ guests. We are in business to serve our customers and our changes are to improve the guest experience. We hope this sheds light into our process. Feel free to email us directly at [email protected] if you would like to discuss further. We hope that you will consider revisiting. Thank you. -The Macri Family & StaffThank you,Adriana Macri & Family
