Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Seaham. Seaham, formerly Seaham Harbour, is a small town in County Durham, situated 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Sunderland and 13 miles (21 km) east of Durham. It has a small parish church, St Mary the Virgin, with a late 7th century Anglo Saxon nave resembling the church at Escomb in many respects. St Mary the Virgin is one of the 20 oldest surviving churches in the UK. Seaham is currently twinned with the German town of Gerlingen.

My friend and I were on a business trip to Sunderland and booked at San Marino's after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, That was a good idea because the restaurant was full when we arrived. We were quickly brought our wine and a plate of delicious homemade Foccacia bread. What a lovely touch! You could also buy the bread to take home... We decided to have the hot sharing platter which was amazing - and would probably have fed a family of four!! Pasta to follow (plus a shared salad). I had the sea food pasta - which was to die for. We were the last ones in the restaurant but the lovely staff did not rush us and were chatting with us as we finished our meal leisurely.we could not recommend this restaurant enough - very reasonable, a great evening and hopefully another business trip will mean we can go back! Thank you Colin & team.

Mid-week family visit when on holiday. Rustic environment, nothing that a lick of paint wouldn't cure. However staff not generally not interested in what I was ordering. Menu was basic UK adapted Italian. We ordered Muscles (wine/garlic) - very bland. Also the chicken Milanese didn't come with any napoli sauce (so basically dried deep fried chicken in breadcrumbs) - had to order the sauce seperatly (at cost). The restaurant would also not swap out chips with spaghetti - how unaccommodating. Only saving thing was the home double cooked (I presume) chips were nice to accompany my chicken/white wine main.Uneventful food/atmosphere/restaurant. Surely others are better.....As soon as I read âstaff not interested in what I was orderingâ I realised this review is simply not genuine. How muscles or rather mussels can be bland when served with garlic is mystifying. Pollo Milanese is not served with tomato, leastways not where the owner of Tosca comes from, which is actually Italy, yes a real Italian running an Italian restaurant, a rarity these days. Wonât bother responding to the rest of this review which is obviously from a competitor.TA just look to the previous review if you want a genuine Tosca experience, not this tissue of lies.

Me and the missus haven't been here since the refurb. Decor has been done to a high spec. The staff were very pleasant and informative. A good variety on the menu and we are liking the new opening hours. I had chicken Kiev simply the best and the missus had steak Diane which was equally superb. We can only say we will be back sooner rather than later. Highly recommended.

Visited on Tuesday 4th June. Two couples who all chose the steak special for £13.95. Three starters brushetta and one soup which were lovely. The steak fillets were tender and cooked to perfection. The sweet tapas were lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meals were lovely and the price was really reasonable. The other couple we had with have been many times but this our first visit and it definitely won't be the last. Really good food well priced and excellent service

Visited for an early evening meal as we've never been before. The staff were very friendly and attentive which led to excellent service. The food was freshly cooked with fresh ingredients and the dishes were fabulous. The seafood penne pasta dish was very tasty indeed with the perfectly cooked pasta. However I could not manage a dessert which also looked appetising. Well done and thank you, we will return.

Visited for years. Food is excellent. Service is poor. Had a booking. Arrived for our booking time. Asked to wait in bar area as tables not ready. Sat for 25 mins waiting. In that time another two couples were also asked to wait. Other couples waiting were asked if they wanted drinks. We were not. Around 5 people left the restaurant in this time - still not seated. My partner wanted to leave at this point. When we were finally taken to our table the Restuarant was only half full. So many free tables. Which made us wonder why we had been made to sit for 25 mins? When the food arrived we were not asked it we wanted black pepper or parmesan on our meal. We would have liked to have had it, but were not asked. Nor could you get anyoneâs attention to ask. Drinks finished. No one asked if we would like another. On finishing our meal we asked 3 times for the bill (3 different staff were asked) and were made to wait another 25 mins for the bill. It appears we were just forgotten about. Had the Restuarant been busy we might have excused this however it was not busy. Service has slipped and needs an improvement.
