With its modern but classic Italian cuisine and emphasis on artisanal and contemporary Northern Italian style, Mediterraneo is often credited with being the first restaurant to bring authentic contemporary Italian cuisine to Sarasota when it first opened
This is one of my favorites in Sarasota. Excellent wood-fire over pizzas, delicious pastas, grilled fish and more. The owners are wonderful and do their best to make sure you are comfortable, happy and well-fed. Across from the Hollywood movie theatre, it's a great place to dine before or after a movie.

An independent neighborhood pizza shop serving classic east-coast style pies in a friendly atmosphere.
I had always wanted to stop by Solorzano Brothers on past visits to Sarasota but for one reason or another never did. This trip I gave them a try and was not disappointed. I ordered a large combination pizza and waited 20 minutes for it to be prepared. I took it back to the hotel and feasted. I've had a lot of pizza in my time and I can honestly say this pizza was one of the very best I've ever had. The crust was not super thin but just right and they certainly did not skimp on the toppings. I can normally eat three pieces when really hungry but in this case two filled me up. I put the remaining six in the room refrigerator, ate two more pieces more dinner the next night and put the remainder in the cooler to take home with me (for me to do that, it must have been really good). I realize that everyone's tastes are different but for me Solorzano Brothers pizza is one of the best anywhere and their prices are very reasonable. They also sell pizza by the slice and have a seating area for those wanting to eat there. Note too that I rarely give 5 stars to any restaurant!

Cafe Gabbiano is the best Italian fine dining experience on Siesta Key! We invite you to enjoy our carefully prepared authentic Italian cuisine and a world class selection of wine.
I went with four of my siblings on the first night of a sibling reunion weekend. Everything was at least very good, and the veal dishes (Veal Parmesan, Saltimbocca, and the nightly veal special with truffles) were excellent. The veal parmesan (a very large bone-in chop) was the best I have ever had. Anywhere. Prices were reasonable, service was excellent, food was authentic and unpretentious. I would return here without hesitation.

How good does a pizza taste after a night of pub crawling? You have no idea until you stop here before heading home! one of the best pizza's in town but certainly not the cheapest. But in a land where a decent pizza is still a better-kept secret than Coke's recipe, you get what you pay for.

Palermo serves up excellent food reminiscent of the NE US. I'm from Philly originally, and my cheese steak ranked up there with some of the best I've had. And the bread (he makes it there fresh every day) was fabulous!

We set off on a very rainy evening to go to Walt's Fish Restaurant but when we got there we found it packed with a long wait for a table so we decided to try this Italian restaurant across the road - an excellent decision. The food was very good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We shared a plate of calamari to start with and couldn't finish it as it was so large - would serve four as a starter. I then had half a duck

La Mucca Ballerina is a great place open for lunch and dinner in downtown Sarasota just east of Orange avenue. The owner's are directly from Rome, Italy where they also own Agriturismo La Mucca Ballerina and serve only the finest, authentic, Italian cuisi
A busy place over Saturday lunch time during Sarasota Film Festival in April. Not enough staff meant slow food and beverage service and barely heated food. The only thing warm was the indoor temperature. Might be worth a try during a slower time according to earlier reviews.

This intimate Italian restaurant is a must see in Sarasota. A reservation is recommended as it is a charming little place with the true feeling of a small rustic Italian Inn. The waiter was great and provided perfect suggestions at our request. Each meal was exceptional and our guests were very pleased we shared this gem with them. They were surprised at its location in a small strip mall type of setting but once inside, the restaurant is charming and the food delicious.
