In our quest to try all the restaurants in Rocky Mount, this was our last Italian stop, located in the mall. Hubby got the stromboli based on other Trip Advisor reviews, and it was delicious. I had the cheesesteak, and while there was lots of it (I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner) it was overly salty - not sure if it was a heavy-handed preparer, or if it was in the beef or cheese used, but next time I'll be trying something different. I tried to ask if I could get a stromboli made-to-order (they're sitting out on display behind glass, prepared earlier and heated as needed) but the server wasn't able to answer me - not sure if he didn't understand my question or if his English just wasn't good, but that's how I ended up with a cheesesteak - that I was able to get prepared the way I wanted.Seating is out in the center of the mall, like a food court.

A friend came by and brought pizza one day. It was fantastic. He told me where he got it and ever since this place hidden from view from the road isn't really a secret. What giant portions are their sandwiches, calzones and strombolis. The steak stromboli will feed you three times!

We ordered delivery from Ramo's while staying at a local hotel. Our food came quickly and was still piping hot when we opened it. Our fried ravioli, salads, and eggplant parm sandwich were all good. My Philly cheesesteak with sautéed peppers, mushrooms, and onions was outstanding! After my husband tried it, he wished he'd ordered one! The bread had a great taste, and texture. It was perfect for the sandwich! Prices were reasonable, too.

Our wait was long with many tables available, it was obvious that the restaurant was understaffed. My husband order a drink, waitress came back and said they were out of that particular drink. Our salad didn't have peppers in it, when we asked for them --- again we were told they ran out. Once dinner came, our soup had NO potatoes in it --- just broth. We are locals here, this is not the first time this has happen. Staff up front is rude and seems to enjoy making people wait ---- conversation between them seems to be of the upmost important. Going during the day is wonderful ---- Manager Shirley is on the ball --- food is good, service is good ----- JUST DON'T GO LATE EVENING OR AT NIGHT.

We were surprised to find such good pizza. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Our waitress (Katie) was very pleasant. The wines were very reasonable, and the pizza was delicious. The sub sandwiches were huge and overstuffed. Would definitely return. One laughable moment though occurred when one of our party requested a cocktail and were told none of the staff on duty were old enough to mix or serve anything other than beer and wine.

Mario's Pizza & Restaurant- Rocky Mount, NC 1 Star At the end of the movie Goodfellas Ray Liotta is relocated in the witness protection program. He looks and the camera and says I went into and Italian Restaurant and ordered spaghetti they served me egg noodles with ketchup. Mario's is not quite that bad but it's very close. I ordered veal Parmigiana and manicotti. The menu said homemade sauce. I asked the server if the sauce was genuinely homemade. When she paused before answering I knew I was about to hear a misrepresentation. Of course once the meal arrived it was blatantly obvious the sauce was a bulk distributor product. It was tasteless. The cheese that was melted on top must have been some ultra bland version of provolone because it was bad. Of course this was the upside of the meal. The veal was served in rubbery chunks of unappetizing breading that tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for weeks. To add insult to injury the service was abominable. Our server had a personality like a bucket of turnips. I am not sure why Italian restaurants throughout the country are so hit and miss. It literally is the easiest food in the world to make. However, so many people mess it up. Big Boy says if you are in Rocky Mount dont eat at Mario's
