We chose this hotel, rated 3 stars, from the description on their website which said it was recently restored. However we have to say the guest rooms are certainly not 3 stars. Our room (no. 12) was very small, had very old fashioned furniture, the mattress was crooked, shower and bath tub both very small too. We were also asked to pay 65 Euro per double whilst on the website it says 60. We stayed two nights. The worst thing is that on the second morning we had cold showers!!! When we enquired with the owner Rossana we were told "these things happen" and a scant apology was offered at the very end, after paying the bill. On the same morning we were awoken early by children running down the stairs off to school, as the family live on the second floor. On the first morning very early at dawn we were awakened by loud thumping noises as if someone was moving furniture. Then at breakfast when we mentioned it we were told it was the bread making process which they do once a week causing all the noise. When we arrived the owner lead the way up the stairs to the rooms, to our surprise the next morning we discovered there was an elevator, which would have certainly helped us as our belongings were numerous and heavy. It took a long time to find the hotel because one provincial road was closed and there is also a New (Nuova) Giacobba Hotel signposted on the road, located just before Vecchia (Old) Giacobba --- we spoke to the owner on the phone three times for directions and she did not mention there was a property called Nuova Giacobba, as well as not giving any clue of the number of kms to drive from the Mondovi exit. The first night we dined in but we were not offered a menu but were told what was available. So the second evening we decided to skip a meal there and had a lovely meal in Vicoforte instead. Breakfast was marked by the excellent homemade jams and marmalades, fresh figs and chestnuts on the second morning. We must say however that they should cover their jam containers as a fly was circulating and annoying us and it was difficult to get rid of it. No savoury foods were offered for breakfast, it was not even possible to get a boiled egg ..... Rossanna was kind enough to store our friends purchased cheeses in her fridge. Overall we were disappointed and we could not recommend this hotel/restaurant. It is a pity as the surrounding area is very green and pristine, and the temperature at 800 metres altitude was warmer than the Mondovi plains.
Rapporto qualità /prezzo a dir poco eccezionale.

We ate here at an 85-person family reunion, with many courses. Every dish was very good, some were the best I've ever had. Service was efficient.I didn't see the standard menu, but if our meal was a reflection of the quality of the food, the people of Vicoforte are very fortunate.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, what a wonderful modern dinning experience. The food was a taste sensation, all ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced, with the herbs being picked from the local mountains that morning. The passion for perfection is evident. My husband had matching wines which complimented the food perfectly. For a different Italian dinning experience its well worth the visit.

I recommend this family-run restaurant for those wanting to taste the true flavors of this beautiful part of Piemonte. Every product they use is either home-grown or locally sourced and it is evident in the quality of their food. We discovered this place several years ago and keep coming back because the food is outstanding. Starters always include a variety of their home made salamis as well as an appetizer made from local trout from the river next to the restaurant. All the pastas are home made and they usually have a choice of three different types. The meat courses usually include veal roast and two other types of meat such as wild boar (in season), lamb or rabbit. They typically offer three choices for dessert but for those who cannot decide they will make up a plate of all three. We absolutely love their zabaglione made with their own fresh eggs and moscato wine. The owners also produce their own wine and we highly recommend their dolcetto. One word of advise... make sure you are hungry because there is many courses and you won't want to pass up a single one.

Riunione di amici e pranzo all'aperto...

The San Marco restaurant, nestled in the Chocolate Museum and the Cioccolocanda will allow you to savor the best cuisine of Piedmont contaminated cocoa. It is a unique structure, where everything revolves around the theme of cocoa and strong aromas will l
We fell in love with this place which is not just about the food but the passion for chocolate too.It is very hard to find non meat dishes in Vicaforte but the lady at this restaurant especially made soup and could provide vegan options. The food is delicious and so is the chocolate.Make this a must!

Piccolissimo ristorante originale e romantico. Atmosfera di altri tempi, dove il tempo sembra essersi fermato.
We had a wonderful lunch at Al Moretto in August 2014. From the outside, you would never believe that this place is such a little gem... Once inside, you immediately feel comfortable. Decoration is cosy and delicate and everything is refined. Food is home-made, fresh and absolutely exquisite. Service is gentle and very efficient. This is a wonderful restaurant where family with children are welcome. We strongly recommend it to everyone !

Ciabot is our favourite place to enjoy a crepe after a day skiing. We all love it, my wife and my daughters love their crepes, prepared in front of you at the bar.I really like their antipasto platter which is perfect with a couple if their beers.Unlike other places in Italy, they also have a very good and fast wi-fi connection and this a big plus.Recommended
