It isn't quite the "authentic Italian" that the review in the Financial Times suggested, but it wipes the floor with most high street Italian restaurants. Following the FT's advice, we had the meatballs polpette. Excellent. The risotto funghi was also better than most. A good Primitivo, better than many. (Nice with the meat balls.) Pity it was down to small bottles of Prosecco rather than something a bit different. Italians have a much better choice of sparkling wines that we see in the UK. And don't even think of asking for Prosecco in Bologna.Excellent seafood pasta, with no attempt to sprinkle parmesan on top. (A crime against cooking that they did try in another Italian restaurant in London recently.) This is the sort of place that you'd love to have round the corner. Good service and a silly price. I mean <£90 for so much good food and wine? We paid twice that the next day for a decidedly average meal.Just one problem, the taxi driver had a problem finding the place. It hardly stands out in the dark.

This is a gem hidden behind a generic eatery, but make the effort to find it, you wonât be disappointed. Fabulous home cooked food reasonably priced. Generous portions. And drinks that donât break the bank. Salted caramel cheesecake is to die for. Best Iâve ever had. After spending the day shopping at the metro centre pop in to charge your batteries. The masses cannot be wrong. Always busy. We will carry on returning for more. Never had a bad meal yet.

Called in for lunch with family. The service from Paulo was amazing, he was extremely friendly & made such a fuss of our granddaughter, she loved him, especially after the ice cream the food was as lovely as ever, with very generous servings. A lovely Sunday afternoon.

Ciao *hello* Our popular North East Italian chain of restaurants have been serving up pizza and pasta to customers in Gosforth and Washington since May 2016. San Lorenzo Gosforth is located within the centre of Gosforth high street, offering an authentic
Decided to try San Lorenzo & we were greeted . Menu quite big . My fiancé has to have gluten free & the menu isnât clear but on the small print it does state it & charges more .When we questioned it the waitress just kept saying itâs more & wasnât very professional at all . She then came over & slammed a big can of tomatoes on the table . She didnât say anything so I asked the waiter & he said oh it for the garlic bread to stand it on .We decided to go for a garlic bread starter to share & have to agree with comments the crust is far too overcooked & you canât even cut through it with a pizza cutter . I had the lasagne & it was not nice & it had too much tomato purée in & if a Italian canât get a lasagne right thereâs something wrong . My fiancé had a pizza again too crusty . We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio & the bill came to £50.10 .We were very disappointed . They asked how it was & we said just ok , my fiancé only ate 2 slices of pizza . We wonât be back much better places to eat . Dear Foodsquad65, For the avoidance of any doubt, we not only offer Gluten Free versions of our pizzas & pastas which is clearly marked on our menus along with the extra charge for Gluten Free pizza bases. The reason we charge is that the Gluten Free bases cost approx 5 times as much as our regular bases and unlike our regular pizza dough which we make fresh every day we need to buy in these products as we do not have a controlled environment where they could be produced. We are extremely confident that had your garlic bread been made with our own dough you would have been fully satisfied, regrettably Gluten Free products have a different texture and are not able to match the texture of fresh dough, something we are surprised you are not fully aware of. It appears that your main issue being that we charged extra for the GF bases, something you were extremely vocal about!,

Lovely friendly place. We went for the first time on Friday night after seeing the reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not dissapointed. The staff were really helpful and the food exceptional. It may have been our first visit but definitely won't be our last.

Fratello's Italian restaurants are located at Jesmond, Newcastle Airport & Scotch Corner J1/A66 near Richmond. We serve freshly prepared authentic Italian cuisine with a modern twist. The Newcastle Airport restaurant is bright, modern design and extremely
Ate here with friends...staff friendly and modern venue. Reasonally good menu with normal italian choices. Nothing particularly special. I had a pizza which was thin crust but not quite crispy. A little bit soft and doughy. All of my friends enjoyed their meals but decided it whilst good was not outstanding. Typical airport restaurant when there is not a lot of choice with walking distance of our hotel.

The food at the Rialto is very good but unless your face fits , the service is pretty poor. Not for the first time we arrived to find our table not available and the reception staff far from friendly and welcoming. We went straight to the main meal and enjoyed all that was offered. Not one member of staff came and asked us if we would like a sweet. On our last visit it took so long to get a sweet that out taxi arrived before it did. Suspect that this may be our last visit which is unfortunate and avoidable.Dear Magpie051,Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate it. Iâm sorry for your experience of our service was below what we expect and try to maintain. As at the particular time of the event the restaurant was at a very busy state, I could not attend to everyone as I try. During such busy times our staff are, as always, prepared and ready to respond to any customer needs, should they be prompted. Sometimes in busier seatings staff may forget to ask certain questions and I do apologise for that, itâs an occurrence which any small restaurant faces from time to time and I assure you it was merely accidental. I apologise again that this was not effective and I hope this doesnât sour you from returning to us in the future - I would be grateful to treat you to the experience you deserved, the experience which helped us flourish for many years. Many thanks,Sonny

We've been visiting Fratelli for over 10 years when it first opened. Never been disappointed. Latest visit was for Sunday lunch with the family. 5 adults, 2 children. Had pizza, pasta , Sunday roast plus kids menu. All really enjoyed the occasion. Entertainment provided for the kids on Sunday was excellent. Service by all the staff was really good but special thanks to Liam and Fabrizio ( hope spelling is correct) who made our visit very special. We will be returning soon. If you've not been then give it a try.
