We had a great dinner here. We did not have a reservation but the friendly staff managed to squeeze us in last minute. Brilliant antipasto with lovely home made caramelized red onions. Loved the truffle pasta and the red meats.Very friendly people and really good food for a very reasonable price.

This country house and restaurant is really aimed at the traditional Italian market , eg Italians who would be city dwellers and who want to have a taste of Umbrian country house cuisine. It did not spark any delights for me. The rooms were in the old style with large open fireplaces which made it difficult for me to sleep , wondering what might come down the chimney at night. I stated here some years ago and of course it might have changed since then. The visitors from Rome who were there during my stay were absolutely delighted with the old tradition in style and home cooked country foods. The host and his family were very welcoming.

We were there last night...One of many visits so far this year. The place was humming with activity...not bad for a Tuesday out of season! The welcome is always warm! The food is amazing for the price. We started with a plate of appetisers for four... staggeringly good! Then pizza which was as good as ever! Some of the best we ever eat anywhere!Ice cream for some of us who had room...Wine and grappa to finish! And a bill for four which could not be faulted! We never come to Pietralunga without a visit here! Outstanding at what it does.

We had dinner here twice. The place is visited by locals and serves very good pizzas as well as traditional antipasti and pasta + meat dishes. The pizzas are made with the traditional wood oven. The antipasti are quite good (large plate of various cured meats, cheeses and other good stuff), for pasta there is the traditional choice . They ahve a small gelateria as well. The wine list is limited, though it has a good montefaloc rosso and a reasonable umbria IGT.The location is above the bar, with a large balcony which is nice in the cooler evenings. Across the street is a playing ground for children.

Sure, service could be a little more professional but certainly not more obliging.Fresh food served in incredible amounts: I always order to share to prevent La Grande Bouffe-like scenes... so if you weren't ploughing the fields for over a week: share....Pizza's come from the wood fired oven, pasta's freshly made and produce local: more honest than this will be hard to find. Don't expect fancy decoration or freewheeling on a plate but enjoy La Cucina Contadina Locale. Sometimes a wee bit crowded and lively but always cozy and warm: typical Umbrian hospitality...Compact winelist (from 8 to max. 25e for a bottle of Barolo) will complete your experience.

This review is for the hotel - the restaurant was unfortunately closed on our night in town, for family reasons. Everyone knows Manuele on the Camino, whether you are in Pietralunga or Valfabbrica or Assisi! Manuele and his brother run this gem of a country house along the Camino, at the end of the road heading out of Pietralunga toward Valfabbrica. The location is sublime: perched on the hill overlooking the valley, sufficiently far from the town to have the space for a walled garden and the peace and quiet to enjoy it ⦠but close enough to do so. The house has been restored immaculately, and the common areas are filled with art, artifacts, antiques, and all needed to give a sense of calm and the local culture. The rooms are spare in a wonderfully authentic way. The breakfast was delicious and ample. Oh to have had an extra day or two to glory in the nooks and crannies of the home and garden ⦠but the Camino called. Manuele deserves further mention, if just a word, for his gentleness, sense of humor, and helpfulness. He is an emblem of how the Camino of St. Francis will grow into a thriving route for pilgrims, given his carefully tending to the pellegrino. Leaving the Locanda del Borgo as we walked through the fields, farms, and forests around Pietralunga, we benefited from his advice, and shared warm stories of our brief time with him.

This is a family run trattoria serving traditional meals with family sourced meats (Beef, Rabbit, Chicken) from the farm or countryside.. Bright and cheerful the trattoria serves antepasta followed by delicious Paste (Funghi, Speck or Ragu) and then a second plate selection of Beef steak, Chicken or Rabbit dishes with local vegetables and wines. My favourite was the beef steak with potato rosti and spinach but you need a big stomach to do justice to all three courses and then face traditional cakes for dessert.I enjoyed many stunning sunsets with my partner sitting by the roadside enjoying he view sharing a half litre vin bianco before moving inside. This is not sophisticated high society eating - it is so very much better - an opportunity to savour traditional meals of quality food in a family atmosphere. If you come here, join in and enjoy but please please don't change it -

In the heart of medieval Gubbio, in a renovated old mill now decorated in typical style of the area, there is the Locanda del Duca. The menu of the restaurant, as well as a variety of pizzas cooked according to the teaching of N.I.P. (National Italian piz
There aren't many restaurants where you can get dinner for two, including a litre of fairly decent house white for £21 these days. After a few days of excess the simple fare of gnocchi and pizza were just perfect. Nice ambiance and friendly staff made for a perfect evening. The house breathalyser was a quirky piece of kit for a town which is mostly vehicle free. Loved it!
