We happened into this small, wonderful place. The food was excellent, the service friendly, the atmosphere casual. We'll be back!Monday has all kinds of parmigiana - other nights have other specials. The parm was crisp and not swimming soggily in sauce. The sauce was excellent.

Located on Moody Street in downtown Waltham, Charcoal Guido's goal is to give our guests a great dining experience in a fun, contemporary style restaurant. Enjoy our handmade gourmet pizzas, small plates, pastas made in house, charcuterie boards and entre
Spouse and I ate here with son his wife and 2 grandchildren; 10 yo girl & 13 yo boy. It was mostly the grandson (13 you.) who wanted to come here. The place is relatively small, with limited low seating tables â most are bar-high chairs & tables. The tables and chairs are close to each other and when I wanted to use the restroom I had to squeeze between chairs/tables etc. It is the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in and at one point during dinner I had to put my fingers in my ears to avoid the constant, overwhelming and annoying noise! Also the food choice is quite limited â mostly pasta with lots of cheese with other things (clams, lobster pieces, meat, etc.) on it- but very carbohydrate rich with sauces. I personally avoided all that and had a bowl of mussels â which were fine. We avoided desert because we wanted to leave the place and the noise. So the point is â when we are visiting son & family I will veto eating her ever again. It is NOT the place to go if you want to have a conversation without yelling to those across the table. UGH!

This intimate restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating is truly a hidden gem! Service was fantastic and food was delicious. Menu offers a great selection ofdishes, and I loved the Italian Sausage & Pepper Meatballs. Bucatini with guanciale was tasty too. The homemade peach crostata with vanilla gelato was the perfect end to our meal.

I was hoping for a nice lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday, but unfortunately we were let down by Tartufo. I was encouraged by the number of positive reviews here, and slightly worried at those that complained about poor service, but decided to take a chance anyway. Mistake. While we had no complaints with any of the lunch entrees, they were all fine, our server seemed as if she could care less. Our food was presented, but she never returned to check on us, instead busy on her phone behind the bar. There were only two other parties dining, and the place was not busy at all. We were long finished when she finally came to pack up our food and then asked if everything was OK. Half eaten plates are usually noticed earlier. She then returned with our packed food, and literally dropped the dessert menus on the table and walked away. We decided to cut our losses and leave. My wife's birthday was never even acknowledged. In an area with great restaurants, there is no excuse for such indifferent service, and especially at this price point and what would seem like a desire to offer a fine dining experience. It's been a very long time that I've left less than a 20% tip, and frankly should have left much less than I did. I saw no management on premise, only this waitress and assistant server who delivered the food.

This restaurant has been operating for many years and has managed to maintain a high quality of service, food, and wine. We had a pleasant dinner there recently with excellent friendly service and delicious appetizers. However, we all ordered the same entree special, soft shell crabs, and found them to be mushy and the sauce so heavy that the delicate crab flavor was obscured. Despite this minor imperfection, the meal was excellent overall and the wine list, nearly exclusively Italian, is outstanding.

Our family of four went to La Campania on a busy Thursday evening and although we had to wait almost half an hour after our scheduled reservation to be seated it was certainly worthwhile. The appetizers â roasted fig, carpaccio, prosciutto and beet insalata â were all enjoyed. The rack of lamb chosen by one of our party was rated âthe best in a very long timeâ while the half rabbit selected by another was âsimply outstandingâ. The duck and tagliolini entrees were also appreciated. The desserts â three chocolate souffles and a tiramisu were exquisite. All in all, a delightful experience.

For a small place there is a surprisingly large amount of options besides pizza, but since that is done so well why would one bother?I had a gourmet delight white sauced, garlicy, mushrooms and carmelized oniony. The crackery crust even held its crisp overnight. Several craft beers and a well-priced wine selection, served by a seriously happy waitress underscored why it seemed to be date night for locals.Great place.

This place has a friendly neighborhood feel. It is very popular with locals. The pasta bolognese is particularly good. This is Italian food well done in a relaxed atmosphere. Also a great place for families.
