Chicago Pasta House

We knew our pizza was sensational in 1977 when Chicago Magazine proclaimed our pizza is the best in the city. But the praise for our pizza didn't stop in Chicago. Our reputation spread even further. New York Times said our stuffed pizza is "the ultimate p

Chicago Pasta House is a long time local favorite in Moreno Valley. Very "old school" atmosphere. Service is friendly. They are known for their deep dish Chicago-style pizza, and it is fantastic.Even the rolls they bring out at the start are wonderful--light as air.

Party of 15 without reservations. We didn’t think we’d need them on a Monday but they were busy. We didn’t wait excessively long. They hustled. Portions are large. Most of us ordered from the lunch specials menu. My navy bean soup was very tasty although it wasn’t thick like in most other places, I found I preferred it thinner. Meatball sandwich was ok but I’ve had better. My son’s fettuccine was too runny, more like a soup but the flavor was good. The salads were fresh and the traditional meals and pizza were fine but nothing to rave about.

Olive Garden

Not only was the service horrible, the check in process was equally terrible. While searching for some place near us to eat, we opted for Olive Garden as we wanted soup. We wanted to check out the new menu. We opted to check in via digital check in so we could drive there and still beat the wait times. Digital check in said it was about 25 minutes, we got there in 10 minutes. Despite showing the hostess the app that we were indeed checked in, she tells us that it doesn't matter, its not the same and puts out name down again and gives us a buzzer. 15 minutes go by and they call our name and party size, this a different person, we say thats us and she asks "oh you have a buzzer, did it go off"? we say no, but that's our name and we did on line check in. She says let me check something, she goes to the hostess and then comes back and says oh thats for someone else who checked in earlier. We ask with the same name and same party size? "That's what she told me". So we wait, another 35 minutes go by and then they call us by name and party size again. Walking past the podium I see the first time they called was indeed our reservation as it had our last name followed by the first name. Clearly they don't know how to distinguish the digital check in from others actually walking up. The server while friendly was very forgetful, we had to ask for water as she brought none to the table, we had to ask for utensils as she brought the appetizers with nothing for us to eat with. The soup was cold, they brought the entree's before the appetizers, bread was hard, it was just a horrible horrible experience. The waitress simply dropped the bill at the table and said we could pay with the tablet, we had multiple forms of payment, it would have been easier for her to take it but she said no we could figure it out on the tablet. That was unprofessional and rude. Upon leaving we noticed that there was an entire section of the restaurant not being utilized, so not only us but everyone else that had and has been waiting could have easily been seated. They want you to think they are busier than they really are by cramming everyone into one side. The side you are forced to dine in is also not the cleanest, crap all over the floor and they only use water from what I can see of cleaning the tables which with everyone being sick, etc is not sufficient for cleaning a table that has tons of germs and food and well we all have seen how some eat sloppily, they need soap and water or all purpose solution. The place is also really cold as if they have the AC full blast so you focus on freezing vs the horrible service. I digress. Parking is horrible at this location as well. We have since taken the in-house survey with no one from the restaurant calling to inquire, same goes with Olive Garden website, therefore I can only assume that no one cares about your experience here.

This very casual place is great for setting up your "everyone welcome" sports bar event or party. All menu items are truly gigantic and overflow the plates. They don't even offer a small or personal size pizza; the smallest offered is a medium or a huge slice. That theme continues with their pastas, huge sandwiches, garlic breads and pitchers of beer. Located in the "Stater Bros." shopping center in the NW quadrant of Iris & Lasselle, a couple of really husky dudes of mixed Italian and Middle East heritage deliver the largest pizzas in Moreno Valley. They are really heavy on the cheese but the marinara and pizza sauces are rich and savory. Downsides to keep in mind include a lack of small menu items, pretty high prices, bulk beverage storage area too close to dining area, vents and fans rather filthy and the entire place needs a thorough cleaning, painting and probably an upgrade or remodel. Our orders also got mixed up. They are big sports fans too, but if the place is not crowded, they will lean to European soccer matches by day but run US football most nights. However, the Big Guys aim to please with the food and will modify almost any menu item to satisfy your tastes and desires. Bottom line: You probably will not leave hungry but will leave happy, especially if you like mass quantities and are not fussy about calories, the atmosphere or the service. I recommend Big Guys for big parties after any game.
