For a change we didn't take the autostrada from Florence to Bologna but opted for a quieter scenic drive through the mountains East of the A1 - if you aren't in a rush it is highly recommended. We had found this place on TripAdvisor and headed for lunch. We arrived a little late and most of the many local clientele were already leaving. No matter and the friendly and welcoming husband and wife team were soon offering us a selection of delicious pasta dishes followed by a choice of 3 simple second and contorni. Including wine, mineral water and coffees it came a bargain â¬13 each all in.By the way use the map/directions on their website as the flag is in the wrong place on here - it is just North of Monzuno. Afterwards we drove up to Bologna alongside the Savena river - very attractive and with various swimming / picnic spots.

Our Inn, called 'A casa dalla Ross' is situated inside the Montesole's Park in Gardeletta (Marzabotto- Bologna). It is an old stone house completely restored. It is near the Setta river, that's why the river is the soul and leitmotif of the Inn. It is a q
Burrata was wonderful (we ordered second one instead of desert!!). Pasta was prepared well. Service was very personable and warm. We really liked the experience! We will be back!

well, it's not REALLY robert deniro who owns the place but he sure does look like him (except he's better looking according to my wife!). this was a wonderful little find that we found three years ago when we exited the florence-bologna autostrada at rioveggio, found places were closed on the main road, and wandered up to montorio (thinking we were lost!) where we found tratorria antica. we liked the meal so much that we retraced our steps three years later and had lunch there again. they make wonderful pastas whose sauces depend upon the season. this fall we had a scrumptious pasta with a broccoli sauce which we actually tried to make (fairly successfully) at home. (i think) my wife had a spicy eggplant based pasta this time around which was also delicious. the previous time when we were there in summer, the dishes used summer vegetables. anyway, despite the fading memory, the food and the view is wonderful from this restaurant and it's well worth the detour off the autostrada.

This restaurant is really really good. We were 3 friends and we took crostini misti, a pizza and two filetti ai porcini, plus the home made desserts. Everything was very well presented and good value for money. Absolutely suggested as a must in the valley.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a family friend and we visited on a Sunday afternoon. Despite being originally from the area, most of us have now been living abroad for several years and were eager to taste some great local food again. And Ristorante Montevenere was definitely ideal for this!Excellent food and very well sized portions, fast and efficient service, and great value for money. We tried several dishes: tortellini alla panna, garganelli con speck e rucola, spalla di vitello arrosto, scaloppine all'aceto balsamico, pomodori gratinati, meringa and sorbetto al limone.I can't pick a favourite as everything tasted delicious!I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area :-)

During our week long stay in Monzuno, we ate here nearly every night, because the atmosphere was so warm and friendly and the homemade local food simply great. The location by the river is lovely. Don't be deceived by the humble appearance of this family run place, the pastas, meats and crescentine we gorgeous and the panna cotta out of this world! All this comes at a decent price. We were made to feel very welcome.

This restaurant is a short drive outside of rioveggio and monzuno and definitely worth the journey off the beaten track. Family run by a young couple the food is amazing, fresh and locally grown, some of the best food we have eaten in the area. Prepared with attention to detail and executed perfectly, the pasta courses were amazing - tortellini with pumpkin and rabbit with pappardelle followed by great meatballs and the best steak my husband has eaten so for on our journey. Well worth the detour off the main road

Rustic, Italian atmosphere. Excellent food inside a wooden restauraunt. There is a garden with swings and a aside for children. Panoramic views from outside of the mountains. The starter is an all you can eat buffet of various Italian cuisine; antipasti etc. For the main I had Pork shank which was truly delicious; similar to a tender lamb shank but larger. Others had a large tray of grilled meat to share with chips, comprising of veal, steak, ribs, sausage and bacon served with chips. All delicious. Coffee and pudding as well. High standard of service. Highly recommended.
