Martinis and the manhattans were watery, more water than liquor. Salads were fine. Service good. The Tutto Mare fra diabolo sauce was very heavy with a strong taste oregano, pasta over done, not good with a fish dish. The over done sole was swimming in butter. The pork chop was just OKNo one ate their pasta side dishes after tasting them. Definitely not the place to go for a good drink and Italian dishes with a Will not go back

The legendary history of Diorio Restaurant began in the early 1920âs. The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and
Diorio's received a good deal of attention recently when Gordon Ramsay came to Waterbury to renovate another local restaurant for one of his famous reality television shows, and chose to eat at Diorio's for two nights in a row. If that's not a golden seal of approval, I'm not sure what would be. However, Diorio's has been a local favorite for decades, and my dinner here in the latter part of May did not disappoint. I joined two colleagues for a business dinner at Diorio's on a Friday evening. Street parking always depends on your luck, but there is a parking garage directly across from the restaurant. I'm always entranced by the tin ceiling when I arrive at Diorio's (see my photos). Appetizers included beet salad, apple walnut salad (half sizes since the full portions would have not left enough room for the entrees), and fried calamari. For my entree, I chose Scallop Risotto ($32): diced asparagus, carrot, red pepper, peas, creamy Parmesan risotto, over a citrus confit. It was outstanding, and I took at least half of it home. I enjoyed a Prickly Pear martini ($11.50) with my meal. Service was friendly and attentive as always. We had no room for dessert, regrettably. I recommend Diorio's restaurant highly and will happily return!

Don't know why it has taken me so long to write about the best pizza in the area. I've tried many of them and Vinnie's is the best. Not far from I-84 it would be an easy stop for someone driving from NYC to Boston. I usually get one to go as well. Love the sausage (which is the true test of a great pizza.)

Dinner date with my wife for our first visit to this highly touted Waterbury establishment. A nice, subdued lighting modern decor with a primary dining room as well as s friendly barroom with a fair amount of seating for dining and comfortable and spacious booths. Pleasant music caps the busy but comfortable atmosphere. White-cloth tables and professional, friendly service. Our main waitress seemed a bit hard to corral at times but there were numerous staffers that were responsive as needed. The menu focuses on Italian specialties but includes fine steaks, fish, salads and some interesting appetizers. I had a terrific escarole & white bean appetizer and my wife had a tasty eggplant appetizer. Both were very good. My main course was a great gnocchi in a brown gravy with tender lamb shank, peppers & onions & portobello mushrooms & spinach. Delicious. My wife had an excellent cavatelli with mozzarella balls in marinara. We also indulged in dessert with a very fine creme de brûlée and even better chocolate cake with Nutella sauce on the inside. The atmosphere is social yet very nice for a romantic evening. Thereâs outdoor seating available in front and a large room downstairs for big groups/parties. The bar is pretty good size and has a couple of small televisions. This is located in a somewhat main avenue on the outskirts of the city of Waterbury and behind the restaurant is a large neighborhood but no parking lot, so allow a few extra minutes to find a spot to park. This is a busy, popular restaurant so reservations are a good idea any night of the week I think. We enjoyed the evening.

We have lived in Middlebury for 2 years and when we don't feel like cooking it's either Maggie McFly's or Middlebury pizza! We love their specialty pizzas and their grinders. They middlebury salad is my favorite, too! They always deliver timely and the food is consistent in quality.

Very good sandwiches for breakfast order lunch. The homemade salads are the selling point of this place though. Curry chicken, antipasto, grilled veggie, and stuffed grape leaves are among the best they offer. Dry and canned goods available as well. Very friendly owners and staff.

Had a fresh mozzarella basil pizza and it was delicious! Thin crust and very fresh. Service was good and prices reasonable. Atmosphere is very nice. It is very small yet cozy. I think if you went for dinner late you may have to wait. They seem to have a very diverse beer selection. Limited menu and hours. Would recommend and we will return.

Friday night dinner with several friends. Overall a nice evening but the restaurant was so loud everyone had to scream to talk which of course made everything worse. Entrees very slow coming from kitchen though the appetizers were quicker. Service was fair. Meals were slightly above average. Probably wonât rush back.
