Discover Restaurants offering the best Italian food in Mestre, Province of Venice, Italy. While Venice’s mainland suburb of Mestre has a history and character all its own dating back to medieval times, it owes its growth and fortune to its more powerful offshore neighbor. Unfortunately, it’s everything Venice is not: modern, industrial and cheap. But while they may not compare to the romantic canals of Venice, Mestre does have attractions of its own, including the Torre (Tower) dell'Orologio and the Duomo (Cathedral) di San Lorenzo, located on its town square, Piazza Ferretto.

One of the better seafood eating experiences that we've ever had! Although the restaurant is small and in a section of town that is possibly not the best, it is well worth a visit if you are in the Venezia area. We found the menu to be exciting, effectively showcasing the best seasonal shellfish and finfish from nearby Venice Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea. The raw appetizers were particularly wonderful, and a great introduction to Venetian cuisine. Even the desserts and liquor selection (20 year old Scotch? who would have thought?) were splendid. The small space was cleverly designed and decorated, and the staff very welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate about good food. We ended up going two nights in a row since we were so impressed, and didn't think we could find a comparable meal for the price (which was not cheap, but reasonable for what you get).

A very nice small place where you can find typical venetian food called "cicchetti" (Tapas). Famous in town is frequently full local people. Many finger foodd is prepared every day from the staff. Fresh home made pasta and cakes from the mummy's kitchen.
We (my wife, son and I) ate there one night in late May and it was good enough to come back the next night. Supper reservations appear to be necessary as both nights the only people who were given seat inside while we were there had them (one group that just barged in and sat down was chased out by a small woman weighing about 60 kilos -- a sight to see!), and the place was packed the full 90 minutes or so that we were there. These people know how to cook. I'm not an Italian food expert, so I won't join the traditional/tourist food debate that I've seen in some of the reviews. All I know is that all of the food we had was better than good, including one of the best meals out of a total of about 30 days in Italy, Nortn and South. It's not Cheap Eats, but the prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality of what they serve. The wait staff is fantastic, especially given the pressure under which they had to operate. If you don't want to or can't do a sit-down meal, there is a considerable variety of tapas-like food that you can order and eat outside. Each night we went through quite a scrum of people (nice, happy after work atmosphere; almost like a party that I would not have minded joining) to get inside.I'd be eating there tonight except I'm about 5000 miles away.

It's a very typical Venetian bar, where you can find delicious fresh seasonal seafood finger foods with tasty wine. I strongly recommend it! Super

This is a simple place, certainly no luxury, so imagine plastic chairs, lots of noise, busy atmosphere. But the service was friendly and the food authentic, if you're after the typical pizza and pasta fair. They even accepted American Express which is not everywhere in Italy so we were happy about that.

Plenty of places to eat in the area but found this gem of a place. Had the Carbonara which was excellent and my wife had the tagliatelle bolognelse, just as good. Service was fantastic and very reasonably priced. 2 mains, 2 deserts, 2 alcholic drinks and water for less than â¬60. Would highly recommend for a good evenings meal. Thanks

If you don't know what to expect, at the the entrance you will never imagine how special is this place. The waiters are very professional and gentle. Even the menù is not the classic paper but a touch screen tablet where you can see everything but you need the waiter to place the order (on my opinion this is the best way). Nothing on their menú is obvious or normal. It's very difficult to choose between all the dishes.I took a very delicious meat with potatoes cream. The quality of the meat is superb. Another big plus is how they serve the ice-cream. It's a real private show on your table: they come with the liquid preparation of the ice cream you select and putting on some liquid azoto into a large stainless steel bowl creating a nice cold smoke falling down they start to solidify the preparation into ice cream . So nice and good. I'd like to thank especially Mr. Gigi, the owner, for being so kind with us. I'll surely come back for some special occasions.

Seafood restaurant in Venice
We happened upon Ristorante Mulinello purely by chance as we were bicycling on back roads to Venice. It's not the easiest spot to find as there is no obvious blaring signage. We entered through a lovely garden with about 6 outdoor tables and were greeted with smiles immediately. Inside is a foyer with a small counter displaying all the fresh seafood caught that day. The foyer separates 2 indoor dining areas which is dimly lit to give a very romantic atmosphere. The food is off the hook!! 3 of us shared a white fish which was the catch of the day grilled to perfection and filleted at our table served up with a gracious assortment of fresh vegetables. The seafood pasta was generous, tasty, and smothered with an abundance of shelled fish. This is Italian food at it's best and as you may have noticed most reviews are by Italians with stellar comments. Ask to see the wine cellar which is a jewel. This restaurant rivals Il Mulino in NYC.

Either you are sitting in Venice area, either you are traveling on A4 (as we did), this place is well worth a visit. Great value, great plates - fresh fish revisited by the owner&chef's passion. Excellent value for money in a relaxed location - outdoor as well.

We are in holiday in Italy and we found this place local to our hotel and thought we would give it a go and we are glad we did! Upon entering we were asked if we were English (we are) to which the polite and friendly lady at the counter brought forward her colleague that spoke English to show us the different types of pizza and different types of toppings! I would honestly reccomend this place to anyone that is nearby! Best pizza in italy.
