A combination of elegance and practicality that is reflected both in the atmosphere of our various dining rooms and in the courtesy of the discreet and impeccable service accompanies our guests in what are among the most important moments of the stay, sta
We had a very good meal. We can for the October "Rassegna Gastronomica" and although we didn't expect it, the restaurant was a very good find.Staff is nice, food good a bit extravagant.

in Chiasso, the number of good restaurants is quite limited. Alchimia is definitely one of the very best. The quality of food is outstanding; fish and sea food in particular. Also the service is very professional and friendly. A big plus is also that they are open late and have a good choice of wines.

The ADMIRAL RESTAURANT is characterized by an elegant and modern location. Our customers can taste a variety of refined cuisine with Mediterranean flavors and a wide selection of wines produced in Italy and in Canton Ticino. In addition, our award-winning
Thought we were going to experience the average food court at a mall and this was a pleasant surprise. The coffee was fantastic!

Walking in the old neighborhood of Mendrisio, I was attracted by this property because it was crowded; which I think is mostly a good sign.As the heading says, this restaurant offers a wide selection of pizzas. But I wanted to try other dishes. So I ordered an appetizer, a main course and a dessert: "Tomino" cheese baked with grilled zucchini; risotto with apples and Taleggio cheese; nougat parfait. Everything was good or very good (except perhaps that the risotto was a bit too much salty for my taste). The service was courteous. As I said, the restaurant was packed: in particular there were large groups of families with children, perhaps because they were celebrating the last school day. Then I was afraid of being neglected and wait a long time. In fact I didn't wait little, but not even too much; and in any case the waiter spontaneously kept me aware about the progress of my dishes (I think this form of customer focus is important). The price for the foods I mentioned, plus a glass of good local white wine, and a water bottle, was over 56 CHF. A normal price for Switzerland, then high for most of the other European countries. But this is common knowledge. In any case, I recommend this restaurant.

Located in the historical street of the Wineries of Mendrisio, the âOsteria Lanternaâ is the perfect place to enjoy the traditional good dishes, accompanied by a wide selection of Ticino and Italian wines. The tipical inn, made from ancient cellars, has t
This is a delicious and friendly restaurant. The neighborhood is adorable with colorful and cute architecture. The restaurant is domed in brick with the owner/manager dressed in smart attire and the waiters in white and black. I found the people working here friendly and professional. The food is excellent. I ate simply for lunch only having a plate of tomatoes with a lovely vinegar/mustard dressing and tagliolini ai funghi porcini. Both were excellent. The porcini were so fresh and the tagliolini were homemade. The house merlot from Ticino was simply perfect.

Our 2nd visit to this restaurant, in a quiet back street of Mendrisio, and really cannot fault it. The service, ambiance and food are all top quality. The maitre'd in particular - his depth of knowledge of the dishes, the ingredients providence etc are 2nd to none, and make the place a real pleasure to visit. The weather helped of course - a beautiful sunny early evening with views from the back garden into the high mountains around - it all made for a fantastic evening. The menu is extensive, the wines really top quality and mostly from the local vineyards. Has to be one of the best places I've eaten in for a long time, and would totally recommend it to all others.

This is almost a must for travellers to Lugano, to eat the traditional polenta and cured meat from the caves (grotto) that have been here for centuries. We did not have very high expectations because we were here on business, but the ambience was certenly authentic and the food acceptable. We learned that the north italians (this is the italian part of Switserland) are called polentoni by the southern Italians. The great mountain view and the history helped to consider this a nice find.

It was recommended by our concierge and did not disappoint. Ample wine list we ordered octopus appetizer that was quite good and couldn't resist a pesto pasta dish and lasagne. All delicious. Lakeview dining with wonderful staff and a good meal. We had a lovely time.

With over 500 âexcellentâ reviews and a smattering of âterribleâ my husband and I felt safe in choosing Locanda Garibaldi as a new dining location. Usually in these instances the few outlying bad reviews relate to very specific eventsâ¦a customer felt slighted, the kitchenâs timing was off, the chef perhaps had a rare bad night, etc. However, I really wish we had read through the bad reviews (in Italian) because many of them have common elements, which perfectly capture our night as well.Menu (or lack thereof)There is no menu, and the owner Giuseppe comes over, sits down at your table, and basically suggests what youâll have. (Note: My husband is Italian, and I speak Italian. I have no idea how this process would work with non-Italian speakers!) When asked for details about certain dishes, Giuseppeâs response (in a jovial way) was, âitâs delicious; donât you trust me?â I didnât feel in control at all over my dish selection; however, due to the positive reviews, I felt safe that Iâd probably like what arrived.Food quality/priceIn fact, the food is good, but definitely âcasalingaââ¦think more âGrandmaâs cookingâ rather than âcontemporary cuisine.â Thereâs absolutely nothing wrong with a good home-style dish, but I donât think it warrants the prices charged. In regard to pricing, that too seemed very informal. Without a menu, you canât be certain that your bill wasnât influenced (positively or negatively) by how well you clicked with the owner.Service(This is THE âmake or breakâ element.) As mentioned in other reviews, the owner Giuseppe makes a point to sit down and chat with his customers. And, in fact, after we had finished our meal, Giuseppe returned to our table, sat down and proceeded to talk for at least 20 minutes! By the time he was finished, it was getting late, and we decided to go. I felt what could have been a quiet evening with my husband turned into a table for three.I fully concede that many of the positive reviews are based on exactly the âfriendly and warmâ demeanor of the owners. So Iâd say if youâre the gregarious type who loves (extended) banter with your host, this may be your place. If, like us, you prefer friendly but reserved service and straightforward selection and pricing, I would not recommend Locanda Garibaldi. I wish Giuseppe well, and I appreciate his passion for his work, but this just wasn't our type of place.
