We ate here on several occasions as we were staying in the self-catering Edelweiss apartments nearby. I especially like the room with the big glass windows and huge square tables, adjacent to the piste. Family-friendly, something here for everyone. Please give me a helpful vote for my review!

Very large servings, very reasonable prices. Pasta is excellent. Maybe a bit slow to get food out, but still really good.

We had to stop here during a vacation travel. The chef has no idea of Italian food is!To be able to pay with credit card we had to accept a surcharge of 2⬠for the credit card fee. Unbelievable and unacceptable.

Mauterndorf is a nice Austrian village close to Obertauern with their own skiing area (Grosseck / Speiereck). The pizzeria had nice seatings and a very spacious room for kids to play. The pizzas were very nice and not too large but more than enough for a good lunch and very tasteful. The prices are very affordable and staff very friendly. We could even let the kids play and walk around town and pick them up afterwards.

Comfortable restaurant serving italian and traditional dishes. Huge menu, a selection of italian and austrian wine, desserts, excellent salads. Beautiful terrace with a wonderful view at the main square of tamsweg.
I have to visit Pizzeria Toscana at least once on every trip to Tamsweg. I love their pizza. The staff is friendly and efficient - as usual in rural Austria (but not so usual in cities, or other countries, I find). I like the atmosphere - very alpine, lots of wood, a Kachelofen (ask them to explain how it works)... Nothing special for a local, maybe. But for folks form overseas it is a great place to dine...
This restaurant appears to never shut - we ate there on Xmas day! A real Italian family restaurant, fluent in Italian, German and English. The food isn't massively fancy, it's good hearty portion apres ski type Italian food with a nice big beer to wash it all down! Go up to the church and turn right, park anywhere in the triangular space there and the 1619 sign is quite small, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of lights and the big wooden door looks a bit forbidding - but just push it open and walk in and you'll be glad you did! You will need to book at popular times but don't bother on the few days around Xmas! Really nice friendly people who seem to really enjoy what they do. If you really feel like going for it the Antipasti in the chiller looks amazing!
We entered, aks for a table for 2. We sat down, waiter gave us menus and asked for drinks. We got our drinks. After a few minutes another waiter came and told us the kitchen was closed and we could only order pizza. This was told by us in german and after a few questions we managed to understand what he was saying (this wasnt told us when we entered). As we were not in the mood for pizza, we told him we would finish our drinks and leave. The waiter gave a big sigh, asked what we wanted and said he would ask the kitchen. He came back and said they would prepare our pasta order. All of it was in a very unfriendly and unwelcome way. Both our pasta dishes were awful for being an Italian restaurant. During our stay, the waiters and owners were shouting to eachother in Italian for the whole restaurant to hear. I would suggest anyone who wants a nice Italian dinner to go to the many alternatives in the neighbourhood. If you want to feel like Gordon Ramsey in kitchen nightmares, this is the place to be. Terrible food, unfriendly waiters, unwelcome atmosphere.
