Things to do in Mandeville
If you ever find yourself visiting or just staying overnight in a hotel on the North shore area of New Orleans (Mandeville-South Covington) and don't want to order the same old, ho-hum, national chain pizza delivery do you self a favor and it take it from this thirty year traveler of America and the world. Get yo' self some of this amazing Pie! As an old guy who's spent months at a time working in Chicago and NYC, over many years, I will attest that this is the the best pizza I've ever had delivered! I can only imagine how good the rest of the menu must be and wish I had visited the Restaurant! Next time I'm here I will!

Took my mom there for her birthday, and we were both disappointed. The service and food lacked for the high price we paid. You could do better by going elsewhere for the cost of the meal.

Duman Artisan Kitchen is a Pizza restaurant with a casual chic atmosphere. We pride our selves in hand selecting each ingredient (organic whenever available) and using artisanal techniques to create our Pizza. All our sauces are home made daily. We offer
The pizza isn't bad, but not as good as McClains. Their artisan rosemary focaccia isn't bad either, but it's the only bread choice.Wines run $13-15/glass, which seems high for a pizza joint, regardless of how they dress it up.There were also only two waitresses for the whole restaurant, and no bus boys. So although they were running around with energy, the service was delayed.Thank you for taking the time to write a review and rate us! We really appreciate it!Believe it or not, we only look expensive:)If you compare our menu item by item, you'll see that our prices match other pizza places in our area. If you compare it to places that use high quality meets (like panchetta, prosciutto etc), high quality cheeses and organic greens like we do, you could say we are actually cheep :) As for our wine list, we wanted to give our guests a wide variety of options to choose from. We have 25 different wines, all available by the glass. 15 of them (`) are below $13. In fact, 9 of them are between $7-$10.All our wines are hand selected by me so I'll be happy to help you choose a really nice wine for a good price next time you come. I apologize for the delayed service. Hopefully we'll do better next time. We hope to see you again soon!

Finally had a chance to try this place, I was really impressed with the food. Ordered the swamp pizza which was very good considering it had a few ingredients I normally wouldnt like on a pizza. Also ordered the salty balls as an appetizer, which was very good, though I felt I was going to die from all the butter haha. The only real negative about the place is the price. If you order from the premade pizzas it isn't too bad, but if you build your own pizza it can be expensive quick.

I've been to both the Mandeville and New Orleans locations several times. The photo shown here is the New Orleans location - which certainly has a different ambience. That aside, the food is great. They often have good lunch specials. Friendly and attentive service - I enjoy both locations.

Forget what you think Italian food is supposed to taste like. Forget Sal and Judy's and Bosco's and whatever other 'Italian' restaurant you think is it. If you want genuine Italian food on the Northshore you have to go to Gio's, period! He's moved, but the food is still just terrific. It's incredible. The Pasta Primavera, the Elefante, the Lobster Ravioli...forget about it!! Only thing is, don't come here in a rush. You're going to wait. Make sure you make reservations. You will be seated promptly, but this is a meal not fast food. Take you time and order your apps, your wine, your entree and enjoy the company of whoever you're with. I don't want to hear anyone complaining about the wait. It's worth it.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Nice Italian dishes and excellent service.
I had a business meeting at the restaurant because it was recommended. That will be the last time. I was very embarrassed to have my client served a shrimp pesto pasta with only 2 shrimp. The plate was supposed to have been a wonderful hot lunch that was bragged about but instead we both ended up with cold pasta excuse me Luke warm pasta and we had to look for the seafood.

I was at a late meeting and my wife out of town, finally came on a 1$ slice night and listened to Casey Saba's one man band play.I got a 12" diameter pepperoni pizza sliced into 6 slices for $6, not much more than the Abita Purple Haze I got to go with it.And it was very fast.Great review. Thank you so much. Hope we see you again soon.

Authentic Sicilian dining in the heart of Mandeville! Enjoy a warm, friendly atmosphere, top-notch service and delicious meals prepared by Chef Leonardo Giarraputo. Chef Leonardoâs culinary expertise stretches back to his youth in Santa Margherita di Beli
There was a time when you found this type of "Sicilian Cuisine" all over New Orleans. And there are still a lot of examples still there (Faust's, Vincent's and Irene's just to name a few, although Irene's is more eclectic) And a lot of New Orleanians moved to the Northshore and found this type of cuisine few and far between. Enter Leonardo's Trattoria and you understand why this place is so popular. He named it "trattoria" for a reason...it's not a fancy ristorante, it's a cafe with very limited seating (I guess around 50 seats or so). The kitchen is small but plenty big enough to accommodate his faithful patrons to this humble abode. Inside it's well decorated in "trattoria decor", dark wood tables and chairs with no tableclothes. The rustic bar seats 5 (I think) and is used for singles dining. It's a nice, pleasant space. The menu is pretty much what your Noni (Italian grandmother) would have served her family...standard stars like Veal Parm, lasagna, fresh made pastas, pizza, flat breads, soups, salads, picatta, pesto and cream sauces. All executed superbly, coming to the table steaming hot, well presented and generous. Everyone I saw there took home a doggie box. The caesar salad was lightly dressed using only the inner, tender leaves of romaine. Fried calamari was top notch served with marinara and a half of a lemon. Veal was a large, fried round that covered the plate. Was it a processed patty? I couldn't tell but for $14 I wasn't complaining. Dessert was a splendid cannoli flavored with a hint of lemon. The ricotta filling was whipped to an airy lightness that set it apart from any I had had before elsewhere. The espresso is worth just the trip alone. Service is friendly, no nonsense and very efficient. We dined at an off time around 3pm on a weekday...weekends must be crazy for the waitstaff and crew. The prices are phenomenal. We got a large plate of calamari, (enough for 4), Veal Parmigiana with pasta, lasagna (lunch portion with a salad (both for $8!), 2 double espressos, two iced teas, 2 cannoli and a bottle of Chianti for under $100 plus they also serve you bread with an olive oil dipping sauce. We seriously suggest you try to dine on their off hours if possible. Even the normal lunch hour on the weekdays is packed. It's located in the back area of a corner strip mall. The crape myrtles by the road have grown tall enough to obscure his signage. Also using Google Maps we experienced a minor hiccup in her directions to this parking lot. If you are familiar to the area Leonardo's is right next to the Mandeville Emergency Vet Clinic. The only negative I can come up with is that I found the red sauce to be a tad too salty since they top most dished with parmigiana too.
