We ate here recently and for a large pizza - it was $20.89 which was a little higher priced than many other pizza places. The quality was very good and they had interesting varieties of pizza. For example, they had a Waldorf pizza which was like combining a Waldorf salad with pizza sauce. The crust is cooked but not overly crisp so it's not like a Sicilian style very thin crust. Overall, the quality is very good, the service was friendly but the prices are a little high for a primarily college town. The name of the restaurant is really about a trip down memory lane with pictures of Marilyn Monroe, Bogart, James Dean, Elvis, etc.I thought maybe "The Boss" was being recognized but we didn't see Bruce anywhere on the premises.Still - it's probably worth a look simply because of the interesting varieties of pizza that you won't find at a large chain.

We took relatives to celebrate our significant birthdays at this fairly new restaurant. WOW! What a delightful surprise in this town with so many mediocre places to eat -- Sergio is the impresario of this fine Tuscan farm restaurant in the recesses of the fortress like Oread Hotel. His warmth, experience, and attention to detail made sure that every item -- from the excellent Valpolicella wine to the outstanding ravioli and savory lasagna plus mouth watering desserts made our celebration even more special.

Seasonal Northern Italian Cuisine
Sharing a great dinner with friends at Genovese on Massachusetts Street is simply experiencing Lawrence at its best. We enjoyed our meals in the outdoor seating area starting with the morel mushroom appetizer - yum! Then a house salad with creamy Parmesan dressing. And finishing with the chicken pesto pizza - wow! Adding a glass of the craft made sangria to accompany the meal - perfection! The service was friendly and attentive. A great overall experience!

Lovely atmosphere and the food tastes very good. We split a pizza and a flatbread and we left very full. Pretty quickly served and received our food. Located just off k-10, very easy to get to from Topeka!

Staff was very personable and knowledgeable. The food was amazing and had great portions! We got the Cajun pasta and the deconstructed lasagna. They were both sooooo good! Small, but nice romantic atmosphere. They also had great drink specials for happy hour!

Lawrence is a very nice college town. The college is on top of the hill and the town of about 80,000+ sites around it. The downtown area centers around Massachusetts St., which has a nice variety of restaurants, shops and clubs/bars. This is a very comfortable city to live in, and it has been attracting retired folks recently.

Since 2009...award winning, locally owned and operated downtown restaurant featuring inspired handmade food, inventive cocktails and an extensive wine list.
While traveling across country on I-70 we stopped in Lawrence for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant is on the north end of the center of action in Lawrence, and easily gotten to from I-70 / Kansas Turnpike or if traveling across on KS 10 and easy drive up Massacheusetts St. The setting is a narrow store space that is nicely appointed including a stone wall that we assume is from part of an old building. Servers and other staff are friendly and attentive. (Kudos to Sarah for her recommendations.) The food was very good and well presented, with a brunch menu that offered a better variety of alternatives than most brunches. We were told that many of the dishes were from local providers and prepared in house. We were able to have a very good bottle of wine, and the wine selection is decent. If every passing through Lawrence at a meal time, we will again stop here to eat.

Yesterday, my wife and I dined at Limestone. We split two pizzas. One was the Margarita with homemade Mozzarella and the other one was a Margarita with pepperoni. The crust was so crispy and feather light making the pizza outstanding. Also, the sauce was tangy having just the right amount of spice. The pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven at 750 degrees for a minute and a half. The taste is incredible. I have eaten pizza many times in Italy and the Limestone would rival any of these. Indeed, this is high praise but richly deserved. You must dine at Limestone.
