Lying on picturesque Lake Constance (or Bodensee in German), Konstanz has been a city since the first century AD, later gaining prominence as a religious center and then as the site of the only bridge crossing the Rhine River. The Old Town is one of Konstanz’s main attractions and is home to the city’s famed cathedral, originally dating from the 7th century. Not sure why the only person who reviewed this place gave it such a bad review. We visited Donato for lunch. It was a very pleasant surprise after reading the review - sometimes it is worth giving restaurants/bars a second chance. We were served by the owner himself who was very engaging and friendly. We started with a bottle of wine and decided on the special of the day - gnocchi with salad. The gnocchi was fantastic; salad fresh and local. We just finished a south to north trip through Italy and could have thought we were back in southern Italy! The meal was completed with a limoncello and espresso - perfect way to finish a meal. Donato is very small with a few tables outside and bistro style inside. You can purchase wines, pastas, cheeses, etc; simple Italian delicacies to take home with you. We wholeheartedly recommend Donato.

Ninos Pizza restaurant is located about one block from the Rhein. There are wooden tables and padded seating, a small bar and sidewalk seating. They offer pizza, pasta, lasagna, doner and other specialties on the regular menu in addition to weekday lunch special and student specials. I ordered the lasagna lunch special which comes with a side salad 5.90⬠and a cold, cheap beer 2.80â¬. The lasagna was a large portion based on price paid and was very good. I did not like the dressing on the side salad though. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I would visit again.

A pub/restaurant with much atmosphere serving mostly Italianate food. This is an old building with an outside seating area in the summer. Very friendly welcome and smiling staff. Fine draught beer and delicious home-made minestrone soup served with garlic rye bread. Others were eating deliciously smelling pizze and substantial salads with big chicory leaves. A few viable options for vegetarians which is great. Took a wee while for the soup to arrive but what the hell. Local people eat and meet here so it's not touristy. Convenient for the city centre and about 8 mins to the Bahnhof. Clean toilets. Would like to visit again, the restaurant, not the toilets...

Had a good Dinner at this place. The owner is really friendly and makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The pizza and pasta we had were really tasty and you definitely need to try the pizza bread which is served with the salads, it's amazing.

This place is rated as the second best Italian / Pizzeria in Konstanz. It is way overrated. Nothing works here. First, the location in the middle of a non descript street in a standalone barn is not very inviting. The inside is warm and cozy and dimly lit appropriate for autumn / winter not summer. The outdoor tables are more like picnic benches with no ambience of any kind. I arrived without a reservation, and even though there were vacant tables inside, I was pushed off outside with the attitude 'take it or leave it'. Unfortunately I took it.There is no English menu and no one could be bothered to explain anything in English. All the staff were totally harried and the hostess could not care less. I ordered the Sicilian pizza with buffalla but there was no sign of buffalla. However, the house red was excellent and great value. The pizza just did not do it for me. I am sure there are better places in Konstanz.

Myself and two friends ate at the very authentic Italian Restaurant and had excellent starters, pastas along with wine and coffees for 58.50E. The pasta dishes were generous and tasty so we really could have missed out on the starter. Vert busy with locals and tourists. The manager made sure the staff looked after the diners. If you like Italian food this is well worth a visit.

Came in here specifically for a pizza and left disappointed. The pizza bases are thin, crispy, and good. The toppings on the other hand were bland and uninspiring. Cheese was tasteless, peppers too thick and no pepperoni! I had steak strips and they were also bland. Service was prompt and friendly. Others in the party fared better.
