I ate here with a friend. I tried the combat zone, similar to a supreme pizza. It was excellent! My friend ordered the cheeseburger calzone, and it was also very tasty! The calzones were $7-8, which was a good price for the size. I liked having the dipping sauce options. Just wished I lived closer so I could eat here more often!
Cute little eatery.. They serve thin crust pizza and Chicago style thick crust too. Also appetizers and Italian pasta dishes and salads with some sandwich choices. They have a selection of beer and wine, soda, iced tea, etcetera. Atmosphere has British memorabilia on the walls..

We met friends here before an Iowa football game. We were seated immediately and had a leisurely meal. The place was busy, but not too busy. Our waitress was friendly. There is also outside seating in nice weather. It was full the day that we were there. We sat inside, however. I had the black bean burger and salad. Others had salads. We all liked our food. It was very good, and a good value. Pizza is tasty here, too! We will definitely go here again. I recommend that you try it. It is an Iowa City old time favorite.

Me and a friend ate at Maggieâs yesterday for lunch. It was really a nice experience. Staff was very friendly. Place was was nice and cozy. Menu is very limited. The focus is pizza but yeah the pizza is really good. We ordered the white Chicken Bianca and yeah would definitely recommend it. Pizza is so hard to rate because there are so many pizza places now. Is it the best pizza Iâve ever had? No but certainly not the worst. Itâs definitely there own style. Crust is really thin which is fine because I like thin crust but the crust is not crispy which I tend to like better. Anyway all in all I enjoyed the pizza. The best part to me was the soup. I wasnât intending on getting soup but the waitress asked if I would like to try one of there soups they were offering for the day. I ordered the tomato soup and yeah it was amazing! I would say best tomato soup Iâve ever had. Definitely order soup of the day there because they definitely hit the mark on there soups. Also I ordered the cup instead of the bowl and wow. It was more than enough. Unless your sharing the cup is more than enough. A+ on the soup! If I had one suggestion it would be to expand menu a little. I donât remember any appetizers on the menu and we normally like to get appetizers. But yeah would I go back? Yes I would definitely go back.

We were in Iowa City for a graduation. Also it was Motherâs Day. We had a fantastic meal with great service. Many in our group got pasta fishes. My wife got a tuna fish and I got a pork shank, which was huge. All of the food was excellent.

I was told this was great pizza in Iowa City but I was disappointed. The sauce was good and the pizza was salty. Ordered Pepperoni & Sausage, plus a ham and pineapple. Both pies had a stiff crust - not burned - with small holes poked throughout. The crust did not bend, except at the center where it was soft from being slightly undercooked. In the restaurant, everyone in uniform made it seem like a chain restaurant, not a special or unique environment. The toppings were good but the crust was so disappointing, I dont plan to go back.

Basta serves modern Italian cuisine, inspired by tradition and local Iowa ingredients. Our pizza is classic Napoli style.
Basra has excellent Italian food, you cannot go wrong at this location. Their homemade spaghetti and meatballs are the best. The pasta is homemade fresh from their kitchen. On Sundays they run specials on this item. Our server was top notch, and in to customer service. At this establishment, you cannot go wrong, well worth the stop.
