Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Illmitz. Illmitz (Hungarian: Illmic) is a market town in the district of Neusiedl am See in Burgenland in Austria. It is located in a region to the east of the Lake Neusiedl (German: Neusiedlersee; Hungarian: Fertő tó) which is named the Seewinkel (lake corner).
Things to do in Illmitz
The pizza was really really good, we had a Hawai and Quatro Formaggi, both were great, followed by tasty pancakes. The staff was very nice, I would only appreciate if they were not smoking right next to their guests.
We went there to have some evening snack in July 2014. We ordered cakes & drinks. Pros + Great quality+ Good Service+ Nice location Cons- Mosquitoes at outside - Buffet table was bit messy with left-over food

Actually we were sailing into Rust and started our tour off at Seehotel Rust, were we left our boat. From there it was just a few minutes walk into the center of Rust where you may find this restaurant. We decided to eat there as it lies within a nice place which makes you feel comfortable. Of course we already expected it to be some sort of touristic as well because of its location but on rare occasions residents want to feel like strangers as well ;-)We made use of the "Schanigarten" in front of the restaurant which was sheltered with awnings, which was useful as it started to drizzle lateron. The (hungarian) waiters were due to the fact that they work in a touristic area still quite nice (but not more than necessary) and drinks were served immediatly after ordering. Even for the food we had not to wait very long. We had Zander, Tafelspitz, a small Pizza and chicken nuggets. The fish was o.k., but the Semmelkren of the Tafelspitz was not good at all and I was more than disappointed about that, as it usually has a very good taste. Even the Tafelspitz itself was not what I expected. At least with the chicken nuggets they didn't do anything wrong. The Pizza was quite o.k. as well. Actually tastes are different but with some dishes, like Tafelspitz, you simply have to reach a certain standard. Another aspect which showed that it was not a "real" Austrian restaurant: we had to pay for additional "Ketchup" extra (⬠0,60), which is usually never the case in restaurants. I found this really poor when I spotted it on the invoice lateron. All in all we paid ⬠60,-- for 2 adults and 2 small kids. After all I would not go there again as there are a lot more restaurants and Heurige in Rust to visit which are typically Austrian (or better call it "typical for Rust") and have excellent food and friendly service.Anyway you may check their homepage: www.haydnkeller.at
