Things to do in
This was the only place open in the neighbourhood on a summers Friday night. Kitchen was run well with what looked to be 3 family staff members and we were taken care of quickly despite three power shortages. Lovely cold stein of draught beer, tasty tomato salad, medium marguerita pizza fed one kid - a large could easily be shared out with salad. Hamburg steak came with a few fries, salad, rice and a mushroom sauce. The linguine with veges and shrimp was very light on the veges and shrimp and a bit tasteless. Nice sitting behind mozzie screens across from the lake.

Where to eat Asian food in Hara-mura: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We were told about this wonderful little pizza and soba restaurant. I know that sounds like it doesn't work together, but what a special little restaurant. Wonderful hand made pizza in their special pizza oven. We had three different ones. The first was a margharita pizza, then anchovies and olives. The third was a surprise, four cheese pizza with honey that you put on top. It was all delicious. We also started with a fresh garden salad with a lovely olive oil. Following all of that, we had fresh soba. The owners were very hospitable and very welcoming. It's a little hard to find and somewhat remote, but well worth the drive. We will be back whenever we come to the area.

You will enjoy the atmosphere of this place. As you enter this hotel lobby you already feel the quality. We were directed to their restaurant in the back which was a beautiful room with tables nicely prepared. We order different dishes. All of the extraordinary. I have to warn you though. If you order the pasta arrabbiata be prepared to suffer. It was way too hot. I have never sweated so much due to a meal. The taste was great but I would warn the guests explicitly that the food is very spicy. To tell you that the plate is hot is a misunderstanding since you will believe har the plate is hot to touch, while the reality is that you are warned that the plate is very spicy hot. No matter. The food was great. Everybody enjoyed it. They also have a nice wine list. The desserts were incredible. They were served to us in a different room. When I asked for grappa I was offered different Italian grappas but also a liquor from Japan. I chose it. Did not regret it. Nice taste. Something called Sinano Wine. Enjoy it if you are there.

Saitama Prefecture, Japan Food Guide: 3 Asian food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Wako
St.Cousair, an award-winning winery located in northern Nagano Prefectureâs town of Iizuna, is a delightful spot to relax, enjoy gourmet cuisine and fine wines, take a tour of the winery, and, from a cozy setting, view the breathtaking scenery all around.
Staying in Nagano we have found it challenging to find good food with menus in English and/or English speaking waiters to help us to choose. It could be argued that hiring a car and travelling 25km or so to the winery was an extreme response but we were so glad that we did! Firstly, the car hire experience was reasonably painless. You need to take passport and international driving licence, and get them to set up the satnav to speak to you in English. The destination is identified by its phone number which is fiendishly easy, and from then on the satnav really does do the work. We found all our chosen destinations easily and with no stress. Then, the winery. This really could have been in France, Switzerland or maybe South Africa. A lovely restaurant with views of vines, mountains and valleys set in pretty grounds and surrounded by apple orchards as well as vines. We chose the chef's special 4 course meal and a perfectly acceptable bottle of Nagano Chardonnay. Not cheap, but a welcome alternative to Japanese beer! The food was excellent too - definitely more inspired by international/ French cuisine than the native specialities and very well cooked and presented. The service was a tad hasty, but we did arrive in a nearly empty restaurant after 2pm and it was due to close at 3 so they did hurry us through a little. There was an English version of the menu and the waitress was so charming that the language barrier just didn't matter.Overall, this winery is an oasis of calm in the frenetic pace of Japan and we thoroughly recommend it for anyone who wants to get off the horse and experience something perhaps a little more comfortable for the western taste.Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! You were correct about the timing of your visit, but we were very happy to have you and we apologize if we made you feel rushed. We look forward to your future visit!
