Same building as what used to be Meat and Mingle, but a very different cuisine.Fairly relaxed and comfortable family run restaurant offering Italian style food.We started with mussels for me and bruschetta for my wife. Both were fine. Our main courses were rump steak and sea bass. My steak was very good. Pam wasn't so impressed with the sea bass, but both meals perfectly acceptable.Service was pleasant and prices reasonable. We would go again.

We have just visited Sunday evening tea here. Quality food - excellent value as part of the 50% off pizza and pasta on Sundays and also Tuesdays. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, reasonably priced wine - we will definitely be back. Can highly recommend Calzone Carne.

We visited this restaurant for dinner having made a reservation on a Saturday evening, the restaurant is small but not exactly cosy in appearance... there were a couple of parties of 6+ & a few couples present when we arrivedAfter being seated we were informed there was a delay on the food, no explanation was offered so we accepted the menu & ordered two main courses & a bottle of wine... I requested a few chips to go with the lamb cutlets & was promptly told that fries are not available.... pasta or mash only I chose mash potato & a side order of spinach, my wife the shin beef in a pastry caseThe food arrived about 40 minutes after ordering, unacceptably late as lamb cutlets donât need a lot of cooking time & shin beef wouldâve been precooked for a few hours earlier in the day presumablyI was told there was no mash available & given a basket of bread as a substitute! The cutlets were average & not particularly flavoursome, the shin beef bland & the pastry case impenetrableThese items were just under £18 each.... not exactly good value, I ordered the tiramisu as I was still hungry which was fine & the wine although more expensive than it should be was acceptable Upon receiving the bill I was slightly taken aback to be told there would no surcharge for the bread as a gesture of goodwill...Not a culinary experience to remember & wonât be returning in the near or distant future
