I went to this restaurant this month for a luncheon with some coworkers. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, calamari, spicy shrimp, chicken parm -> all was excellent. Excellent location for Large Parties. The Service was just OK. The restaurant was empty but server was no where to be found and was slow with getting drinks.mlukasik331, we're sorry to hear about the service during your dining experience on your recent visit. Family owned, 90+ year old Northern (Modenese) Italian restaurant serving Classic Italian combined with new constantly changing items and small plates. One of the most extensive (over 4,000 choices) wine lists in North America.

We did not plan to go to Viaggio on a cold snowy night, but since we had an errand in the neighborhood, we decided to try it. We are certainly glad we did. There have been several different restaurants in the space and the current owners did not change much of the decor from the prior Italian restaurant. But their menu and the quality of the food are huge steps up. We shared a stacked eggplant appetizer that was both artistic and tasty. It consists of two stacks, each of which contains on the bottom a piece of lightly breaded and fried eggplant topped by a tomato slice, a mozzarella cheese slice and another piece of eggplant; over the top of each stack is shredded arugula with a nice drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. My wife had the "eight finger cavatelli" dish with an excellent sauce while I had the orechiette, a good winter dish comprised of pasta, white beans, garlic, crumbled sausage, escarole and olive oil. Portions were so generous that we each took home half our meals for the next night. We also took home one piece of each of the coconut cake and cannoli that were very fresh and flavorful. The staff is friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the dishes. This restaurant is a welcomed addition to our neighborhood and a place to which we will return - soon!

Great location after theater in downtown Chicago and on our way home. Wonderful evening-great service, menu was excellent. Seated in downstairs dining room so able to have conversation comfortably. Meal servings were appropriately sized so able to enjoy desert too! Great first visit, but not our last.

Whenever ex-Chicagoans visit us, eating Pieroâs pizza is a must on their itinerary. Their stuffed and pan pizzas are amazing. Many choices of toppings and ingredients. Delivery is always hot. Many other Italian choices on the menu in addition to their great pizza.

Visiting up north friends brought in pizza and salad and we were pleasantly surprised. The pizza is four stars while the salads we had were very unremarkable and average.....Thin pizza with a slightly sweet sauce was great.... sausage was delicious but couldâve used a bit more. Veggie pizza also was well received despite spinach, not my choosing. With so many nearby pizza options including Pieroâs in HP, I doubt weâd order in from here again... but would be open to eating their Italian food in their restaurant.

There are few places that have true Italian food across the board, Bella Via in Highland Park, Il., definitely does. They spice their food just right. From Veal Marsala, to Chicken Limone to their delicious lasagna, every dish is outstanding. Portions are generous and service, though harried due to their popularity, is good. Drinks are done well and they have a great bartender. Overall, this is one of our favorites with prices reasonable for the quality of food you will get. It is always busy so be sure to make a reservation. The food will not disappoint. Ciao!

We had a real good dinner here the other night. All the ingredients are super fresh and you can tell the pasta is homemade. I had chicken vesuvio, which would have been great except for the ten pounds of garlic on top....it was everywhere...I could barely eat it. Plus it was swimming in a bed of butter/olive oil....I would not recommend ordering this dish...or order it without garlic and sauce on side. Too bad, since the chicken seemed quite tasty. However, I would return and try the pasta dishes which I think they are known for. Service was a bit sketchy, I ordered a glass of Chianti and ended up with some sort of white wine....and at end of meal we got the wrong bill.....and then even after that our waitress said she charged the wrong amount....huh?? This place is VERY noisy so that may have something to do with the miscommunications....however I would still come back and recommend to others. Prices are ok for the area and what you get. Come early or you probably have a long wait as they do not take reservations and there are only like 15 tables.
