We enjoyed it the first time so decided to celebrate 38 years of marriage by enjoying another great meal. Bruschetta was amazing followed by melt in the mouth gnocchi and salmon fettuccine. Fantastic meals full of amazing flavour. The staff were attentive and only there when you required them. You were not pushed to order which is very refreshing. Price very reasonable for the quality of the food. Will certainly return and also recommend it as a place to eat when in the area.

Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm

Please note, we are an open garden that offers a gift shop, cafe, tours of the historic homestead and charge a gate entry of $4 per adult and $1 per school-aged child. Lavandula Farm is open every day during school and public holidays.

Whilst we enjoyed the farm and the short tour of the original farm house I do not believe paying the entrance fee is worth it especially if you are going to the café and or purchase something in the store. I think the best option is to deduct the entrance fee from the purchases whether it be in the café or the store. You could even put a minimum spend to obtain the refund. The food in the cafe was lovely the pizza had one of the best crusts I have had for a pizza. The champagne with lavender was also very nice. The tour of the original farm house was very interesting and very informative. The current owner purchased the property 30 years ago and lived in the old farm house whilst it was renovated and it is now a business.I would be interested in going back to see the lavender in flower. Thanks for your review. Our entry fee is payable once a visitor decides to enter the farm. Visitors are not required to pay a fee if they only shop in our gift shop, which is the first entry point to the property. In basic terms, the entry fee covers the expense of maintaining our gardens, grounds and infrastructure. As a rural property we do not have access to town water, sewerage and other basic amenities. We are an historic farm with extensive grounds, gardens and historic buildings for visitors to enjoy. Our cafe, La Trattoria, is provided as an extra service for those wanting a great environment with their great food. The best time to enjoy our lavender in full bloom is throughout January and February. We also host a Lavender Harvest festival every year where we can share the whole lavender harvesting and processing experience with interested visitors. See you then!

La Trattoria

How do you rate this conundrum? The location at Lavendula is like being in Italy. An authentic yet restored Swiss Italian farm with stone building, vines, lavender, animals, gardens and even a bocce’ court. It is 100% ideal for a picnic and kid friendly.La Trattoria is in one of the stunning preserved building and oozes character. The food is local and good to very good. Prices a little high but serves generous. Styles is varied, regional and fresh. To sit outside on warm night under the linden trees looking into the valley is delight (note: mozzie repellant essential)Yet the service (on more than one occasion) is consistently poor. It feels like the chef is one operation and the serving/coffee staff another group? Our last visit forced me to put this review in hope they may change.OK, we can cope with getting our cakes, ice creams within 2 deliveries 2 minutes apart but then to wait another 15 to 20 mins for one tea, one mulled wine, and hot chocolate was a joke. And no the order was not lost.I tried, I got the “surfer dude (SD) type waiter’s eye and then he walked past. By the time drinks arrived we had eaten the food, my wife has gone to find the toilet, 5 year old daughter so bored she left to explore and my guest ditto with daughter. So when he finally delivered (again in bits) I have to comment: “better late than never” I said, to which SD grunted? So I added “except no, as we have almost all left”, more grunts! So I finally said, “so you agree this is crap service” reply: yes you guessed it: more grunts!!!. And we were located 7m away from the coffee bar yet no comment from the frazzled looking coffee lady. As we left, the table we shared with a party of 8 were half way through their “journey” of how many scone/s had come and were to come? and again, no drinks. My advice, go to Lavendula but visit Cliffys beforehand. Stock on picnic gear, cheese, ham, olives, et all a local bottle and enjoy a meal on time at a less cost. We have done that a few times and forgot this time. Doh!

Pizzeria La Luna

We ordered delivery - Margherita, mexicana and gamberi picante. When this shop first opened, it was wow!!! Finally pizza has arrived. Unfortunately like so many local shops with limited competition the quality has slipped. Our pizzas weren't cut through (the kids werent happy) our pizzas were dry, over cooked and cold by the time they reached us. For $72 the food should be faultless, this was very far from it. Stick to the hepburn pizza shop from now on.

Lucini's

Not everyone will appreciate Lucinis. If you want impersonal slick dining go somewhere else. Lucinis is warm, friendly, casual_ if you want to feel part of an Italian family meal with good wholesome food then book in. Atmospheric and enjoyable rather than polished and impersonal.
