Things to do in Hameln

When we first arrived at Da Mario, we thought we were in heaven. It was very busy, the food smelled great, the menu looked good and the prices were definitely not as steep as most other restaurants in Hameln. We ordered two pizzas and a pasta dish. The outside seating area looked like a picture-book Italian restaurant. However we soon realized that it was a good idea not to have ordered a starter, as we had to wait for over an hour for our main course. At first we didn't care, but then realized that people who had arrived after us were having their food brought out before us. The chef was very friendly, but we figured he was mainly buttering up the locals, more or less ignoring passer-by tourists (like us), which was mildly insulting. The restaurant had begun to thin out, we were almost the only guests left, but when our food finally arrived at the table it was almost ten at night. The food in itself was good, the pizzas were okay and the pasta nicely presented and very tasty. It was almost but not quite worth the long wait. If you want to try Da Mario's, it's probably best to arrive there really early and when you're not feeling too hungry.

Although all staff are Italian, the food is mediocre, especially the pizza's, which resembled supermarket pan pizza. Pasta's were okay and salads soaked in dressing (the German way). Service was friendly but somewhat slow. Tiramisu made up for a lot and so did the bill: 14 euro each for bruschetta, pizza/pasta, two wine and a coffee/tiramisu.
Beim Wein gut sortiert. LECKER. Wir kommen wieder.
This place has good food and the facilities are very trendy and nice. We recieved excellent service, and i would recommend it to others for that reason. Conveniently located between the train station and the old town.

A small Italian restaurant on the edge of the old town and a few minutes walk from our hotel. A warm welcome from our Sicilian waiter, and a menu card in English was produced. Madame had the grilled salmon, and I had the pork saltimbocca. Both came with nicely cooked vegetables, and a salad to share. The Italian wine from the card was excellent and reasonably priced. An enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings and good service.

I was in town for business. I had been to this restaurant once before about a year ago, and gave it high praise. I went on a Tuesday night with a colleague that hadn't been here before. We both had the filet steak with pepper corn sauce and split some chianti. I started with a caprese salad and had tiramisu for dessert. Everything was very good. The funny thing is the company we were visiting took us here the next night not knowing we had been there the day before. No complaints though. That night I had the sea bass which initially came while but they offered to bone it table side which I appreciated. With more colleagues in town we went again the next night. This time 4 of us split a couple pizzas for a starter. The diavola and one with artichokes, ham, mushrooms, and maybe more. I could see the dough being tossed from the table in the kitchen. I went with the sirloin steak which I enjoyed. The last night there was only 2 of us, but returned for the 4th night in a row. I went with the lasagne which was a 3.5/5 for me. Overall this is a very good restaurant, good food, service, and ambience. The location was convenient from either hotel zur krone or Mercure. Price was reasonable as well. It's worth noting the the 4th night was a Friday night and they were quite full. When greeted at the door and asking for a table it didn't look promising. However the waiter that had served us 2 of the 3 previous nights recognized us and found us a table. That goes a long way in my book. I would definitely recommend and return myself as well.

I was there a couple of days ago. It is a small restaurant (6-8 small tables), comfortable and nice. The pasta was delicious. The tagliatelle with shrimps were excellent. We did not try the pizza, but it looked really nice, too. Very good service, for a good price.

La Fontana is an authenic Italian restaurant in the Old Town area of Hamelin.Surprisingly, it sports a delightful restaurant garden, accessible through a tunnel from the restaurant proper. The Italian cuisine menue is extensive. We ordered (1) a shared antipasto plate, then (2) basil and goat cheese gnocchi, and (3) melanzane-alla-parmigiana. All were nicely presented. Tastewise, #1 and #3 were OK, but positively lacked a touch of garlic, and even some salt. # 3 was just perfect. The service was attentive and timely.Overall, a good dining experience, albeit there is room for improvement.
