Ordered a pepperoni pizza for delivery as soon as I checked in at my hotel. They said that it would take 45 minutes, and it was pretty much spot on. The pizza was warm, which is good considering it's freezing outside. The pizza itself was quite good - thin crust (slightly flaky, but still good crust), decent amount of toppings. Id say 2 pizzas would be enough for 3 people of regular appetites. As long as you don't expect gourmet food, you won't be disappointed.

We came to Hakuba last season, when I don't think this restaurant even existed. Our expectations of "on mountain" dining in Japan based on last year were that it was ok, but more of a utilitarian "refuelling" self service cafeteria style experience, serving Japanese food with a few random (and rather hit and miss) attempts at western style cuisine. Being keen on mountain lunchers, who ski in the Alps mostly, this is something that we just accepted as part of the different ski culture of Japan. We went to this this tiny place near the top of the mountain knowing nothing about it except that it included a table service restaurant. We expected a Japanese menu. In fact it serves European, mainly French/Italian style food. It exceeded our expectations by miles. Service was charming. The menus -3000 yen for 3 course pasta lunch with coffee, 3500 yen for a meat based main 3 course lunch sounded great. We were still sceptical whether the chef could pull off the interesting sounding pasta dishes. He did. My duck and walnut salad was delicious, as was my pasta with mushrooms. (Big plus must be that the Japanese really know their mushrooms!) A friend's salmon main dish looked beautiful and tasted excellent. The bread rolls were warm, crispy and no hint of the added sugar you usually get in Japanese bread. This was as good as anything we would get in the awesome mountain restaurants of Italy, but better value.I heartlily recommend it if you fancy something a little different from Chicken Katsura curry or noodle soups.

Popular pizza and pasta cafe near Hakuba railway station
Wonderful staff, lovely greeting and knowledgeable passionate owner who explained their particular type of Italian food.My husband and I really enjoyed a 3 course meal here. The portions are much smaller than other restaurants in the area, but typically Italian and it meant I could eat dessert which was wonderful. I'd recommend booking as it is a small restaurant and get there early as it doesn't seat people past 7:30pm.Lovely cosy, warm, relaxed atmosphere. Delicious wine. I could have sat for hours!

Contemporary interpretations of European cuisine using the best of the magnificent local produce in an opulent setting, matched with an iconic international wine list.
"Mimi's" is a special Restaurant. It's not obvious when you enter as the neighboring bar can be crowded especially during 'Apres-Ski' time and the decor does not wow the visitor. However, as soon as you receive the Menu and interact with the staff, a guest knows they are in for a culinary treat. My wife and I went with the 4 Course Tasting Menu designed by Chef Shimamoto. It was brilliant, we also outsourced our wine selection to the Sommelier who charged us an additional Y4000 for his wine-pairing - I strongly recommend you follow his lead and embrace the pairing. We started with marinated Shinshu Salmon, then moved to a lobster pasta which was bravely combined with a glass of red given the yummy spicy tomato sauce. The main or 'entree' course was a quite brilliant charcoal grilled Wagyu steak which was served with a red wine sauce and roasted seasonal vegetables. Both desert options which we shared were excellent - Tiramisu or berry Pavlova. Ingredients are locally sourced and the presentation of each dish was worthy of a prize for at least my wife's iPhone photo collection. Our Server (Mel) was charming and knowledgeable as were all the staff.Traditionally many come to Hakuba to ski, frankly, this restaurant is worth the trip. Chef Kazu deserves a Michelin star and many other awards. Quite brilliant, perhaps the best meal I have every had in Japan (I have lived in Japan over 11 years). It is also worth nothing that the kids' menu was lovely also with similar care for all their dishes.OH MY GOD, what a review. We only want to say thank you for all your compliments. All these amazing words for Mel, for Sergio (our Sommelier), for our chef Kazu and of course for all the Mimi's team are the best reward ever. Actually you have described us as the " Cinderella " of restaurant business. We are flattered by the comparison. We are happy to see that our efforts are appreciated by our customers. I hope to see you again soon and to be able to excite you again. Alberto Isoppi and Mimi's team.
