I love Italian food and since moving to the US from Europe I miss it terribly. Fortunately, travel to Japan brings the chance for excellent Italian food. Ciao is one such place. For starters I had the garlic toast and for mains the scampi fettuccini and a tomato salad. They recommended the cream sauce over the tomato sauce, so I went for that. Wow, it was great. There was a giant scampi which had been perfectly cooked, the flesh was at the hard- to- reach stage where it was super- tender and moist but not raw. The cream sauce was excellent and complemented by about a dozen small clams, like mini- cherrystones. The fettuccine was just a wee bit on the done side of al dente, but that might be a local taste thing, they really know what they are doing here. The taste was great, a well- balanced dish in all respects. The Tomato salad was fresh and with a light complement of lettuces and onons. The garlic toast was heavenly, just the right, light brushing of garlic butter and the bread was that amazing, micron- thin crispy crust with light but still chewy body underneath. The atmosphere is bistro- ish and the service very good. The décor seems to be a bit of an afterthought â they are worried about the cooking, not the décor. Thatâs the right choice, the food makes up for it, and more.Thereâs no English menu, and they seemed concerned about that as I was seated. But since the dishes are Italian, itâs pretty much all there in Katakana, easy enough. And if you donât have a command of Katakana, no worries, just name the dish you want, enunciating clearly (that makes it sound like Katakana), and chances are they will have it, or something close. Youâll get by.Highly recommended.
Used Saizeriya for just the drink bar. No problem ordering just the drink bar in the afternoon, perhaps as not too busy. Good selection of okay coffee, and good ice coffee. At 300 yen for as much as can drink, its cheaper than going to a regular cafe.

Had an excellent dinner here, with wonderful food and drinks. The atmosphere inside feels like an authentic restaurant in Italy, and so does the food. The owners have clearly been to Italy many times, and serve authentic delicious Italian dishes using the best ingredients. Everything was perfect. Service was friendly and faultless. Will go again in the future.(Note: The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, accessed by an outside stairwell, so there is no disabled access.)
