We stumbled across this little place in the countryside as we wanted an authentic Italian restaurant for our last day in Bologna.Although no one speaks English, you are made to feel so very welcome. As it was a Sunday, we quickly realised that it was a set menu that seemed to be never ending! Course after course of pastas, meats, salads and desserts came at us thick and fast. Delicious!! An elastic after waist was definitely required afterwards and for such a reasonable price as well! Gigi, who I assume was the owner, encouraged us to try the true Italian balsamic vinegars and cheeses available. With some great hand signals, smiles and laughs we communicated throughout the afternoon.Totally free of being a tourist trap. Was definitely a highlight of the trip for us! Thank you Gigi and all the wonderful staff! Itâll be one meal we never forget!

An excellent place for a cheap and cheerful meal where the food is good and the young owners are enthusiastic and very friendly. We arrived on the recmmendation of the Agriturismo where we were staying, 5 minutes' drive away and were welcomed warmly. It was easy to find, on the main road from Modena and just entering Castelfranco Emilia, no problem parking outside and plenty of room inside. Not a posh place, but just the thing for a weekday when you don't want to push the boat out. We had delicious home-made pasta, fried chicken and chips and a desert to die for. I felt a bit ashamed of passing up on the large array of home-made puds to choose one that was bought in but it looked so good - and tasted even better! Namely, sweet Sicilian Canelli - rather like brandy snaps, filled with chocolate and cream. We shared a plate of four, but one each would have been filling enough. The wine was fine, and our bill was among the cheapest we had during a fortnight in Italy.

We have an huge parking area. air conditioning inside the restaurant. Pizza gluten free. We offer a very varied menu. We have dish with meat and fish and pizza.
We went to Caffe Grande two times while in Castelfranco Emilia , first time we had an exquisite seafood pasta , second time a very large Naples style pizza with three fillings on top which was amazing. I totally recommend this restaurant , the staff were very friendly too. I can't comment on the cost as we were taken there on business and didn't pay.

We ended up eating there eon two successive nights due to our van breaking down. It was a local recommendation and it was great. The first night my husband had a couple of local pastas, and I had possibly the best rabbit I have ever eaten. The second night he had a mixed grill, and I had beautifully cooked lamb kebabs. Dog friendly, unpretentious, a great find.

Tipical specialities from Emilia Romagna. Tortellini and Tagliatelle, grill and balsamic vinegar. The best italian wines.
I was a huge tortellini fan as a child, so when my wife and I moved to Italy this year I jumped at the chance to try authentic Italian tortellini. After dinner in Bologna I had high expectations for La Lumira, and I was not disappointed. The tortellini in brodo was outstanding and the tortelloni zucca was even better. One of the best places I have eaten in Italy. 5 out of 5.

At Maxela's, the ingredients are the stars of our creative menu that feature a mix of genuine flavors that are typical of Italian cuisine and Mediterranean tradition. In addition to our tender and juicy meat selections, seasonal first courses, charcuterie
Even if I went there with my best friend, I would suggest this restaurant even for couples.Small place, few tables, nice service, great steaks and we had the Scottona red wine (allegedly made for them by a famous Italian winery) that worked very well with our food. One of the best places in Modena for stakes, the price is right for the overall experience
