Inside the ancient Castle of Birago's you can taste fishing and typical italian cookery in a suggestive location.

The place is beautiful...right on the lake, sourrounded by green, nice view...quite,peace...everything that you are looking for when you go out.But it all finishes when you try to order something.First of all waiting will get you nowhere. You have to get up,go to the bar, order your drinks, pay on the place and then take your own order to the table...great,no!?

This restaurant was recommended by the owners of our holiday home in Mazzè. They weren't wrong. The restaurant is situated on top of the mountain. It's a totally refurbished former (part of a) church. Downstairs is the entrance and bar, upstairs the dining area. The architect did a very nice job cause it looks fabulous. The first night we had diner, a very nice lady (who speaks french and english) served our food, while her mother cooked it in the kitchen downstairs. We decided to each have different choices from the menu, so that we could taste as much as possible. It was a gourmet feast. The dishes look and taste superb. It was very quiet and peaceful that night (only one other couple) and we decided to book again for a special lunch two days later (national holiday). That was a totally different experience, cause it was fully booked with Italians. So we could enjoy the extrovert Italian family atmosphere, which was really nice. The lunch was an seven course meal and as good as diner two days ago. Never had fried flowers before, but it's great! If you visit Mazzè, go here. If you are somewhere in the neighborhood, go drive some extra miles just to go here! Well priced too.

Our family met our Italian cousins and shared a fabulous 5 course meal at the restaurant. Our cousins host their special family celebrations here. The food and presentation were unbelievable. We shared food and wine for nearly 3 hours. The wife is the chef and her husband lovingly serves the dishes. We had polenta dolce and other family favorites. All the food was fantastic. We even returned later to get an order of bonia cauda to go. It was also fantastic. Take the 30 minute drive from Torino and explore this area and enjoy a great northern Italian meal.

I have been in the restaurant a few days ago and the experience was to forget, not so much for the place, but rather the total lack of organization and chaos reigned ... Place incanteole structure mismanaged. Acquaintances bad language! The location is very nice, but the dishes, even for a foreigner are really dull. Tasting menu with wine portions scarce and quite cheesy, especially in terms of prices.Among all the Italian restaurants, I really would not recommend it.

A great local Canavese menu and the setting is quite comfortable. A well chosen selection of local wines is offered.

The restaurant cuisine is under the control of Chef Nella Mancini (Federico's wife) who proposes ancient Canavese's dishes with freshwater fish (as char and tench), FASSONA beef, lamb, pork and duck meat all cooked in the local tradition style. Our AIS-pa
A group of work colleagues went for lunch, but we ended up getting a lesson in both wine and food from the Piemonte region of Italy. Over approximately three hours, we enjoyed multiple courses of pasta, meats, and seafood all paired expertly with a local wine. The owner acted as our tour guide and made the meal even more special.

... not worth a Michelin star. So, weâve enjoyed an immaculate service, the pleasant atmosphere of the place (even as it has been very busy ...), but weâve havenât been overwhelmed by the food, its tastes: professionally prepared, perfectly presented but not the hoped whow-effect.The selection of wines is extraordinary.Probably we have to return and to try it again.
