We were all very impressed with the high quality food we enjoyed at Strega, from our appetizers (burrata cheese with fresh cherry tomatoes; arancini) to our respective main courses (the Bufala pizza, margherita pizza, and ravioli). Everything is clearly fresh, hand-made (pasta included), and cooked the authentic Italian way. New Haven is chock-full of pizza places, including several famous spots (Frank Pepe's, Modern, Sally's) with much better than average pizza. However Strega has the pizza that most closely resembles an authentic Neapolitan pizza, with a light, airy, chewy crust and simple, fresh toppings. We will be back for sure.

Italian classics and new American specials brought to you by Chef Luciano Rossitto. Vegan and vegetarian menus, along with gluten free options are also available.
Rossitto's is a nice restaurant conveniently located in Branford. The owner/chef Louis is a very nice guy who can cook as well. Always good specials, reasonably priced, great drinks in large snifters and a very friendly atmosphere. Locals like to gather here so the atmosphere is always lively. Even if you don't live in Branford this is a must try restaurant for very good Italian food.

Upscale but casual Italian Steakhouse in the center of Branford, Connecticut. Fresh homemade pasta and sauces paired with traditional Italian entrees and a high-end steak menu.
My first time here and won't be my last. Just loved how everything was homemade. The pastas, the desserts and a great menu that you have a hard time choosing. We had the lollipop lamb chops for an appetizer and they were just deliciously cooked nice. Cosi pasta was delicious and the veal saltimbocca was very good also. But I have to come more often to try other things on the menu. Our server Kaitlin? was so sweet and accommodating. Atmosphere is small but cute and it was so crowded on a Thursday night. You know the food is good when the place is full.

If you are ever in the area, do yourself a favor and visit Rosso Vino! This restaurant is exceptional! Delicious food, generous portions, great service, and great ambiance! Be sure to make a reservation, because this place fills up! We came to celebrate our great friends birthday here and it was absolutely perfect! Sangria's were top notch, and we all had different apps and they were all delicious! (Lobster Bisque, Zucchini Blossoms, and Caprese Salad). For my entree, I chose the Linguine e Vongole - Fresh Clams, Heirloomtomatoes, Garlic, white wine, Olive Oil and red Pepper Flakes over Linguine. The amount of FRESH little necks (clams) on my plate was mind blowing and they were so fresh and flavorful! (See photo) Finally a restaurant that actually GIVES YOU SOME CLAMS!!! Fantastic flavors and I hate to admit it, but I ATE EVERY BITE!!! lol My hubby had a shrimp dish over pasta, I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called I want to say it was Shrimp Fra Diavolo and he said it was really good, and the Birthday girl had Lobster Ravioli and it was DELISH!! Bread pudding for dessert was AMAZING too! Be sure to save room!!!! :)WE WILL BE BACK!!! :)

Two couples visiting the Cafe at Happy Hour.....good experience. Service on the money. We ordered some apps and an entree or two....fried calamari, pasta fagioli, eggplant rollatini, wine and cocktails. They have nice assortment of cocktails, wine and beer at HR prices......place was crowded and festive......good value....we had no complaints except it was a bit noisy for conversation.

We chose Assaggio to meet our friends. Four of us dined here. We made reservations and were seated promptly. The restaurant had several large gatherings that night, so the noise level was elevated, and conversation was challenging. Assaggio has an interesting, upmarket menu with meats, chicken, and fish dishes. Our waitress spent a fair amount of time reciting at least a half dozen specials- that over an elevated noise level. We decided on four different entrees- mine being stuffed shrimp, also three petit filets on a bed of mashed potatoes, and two other entrees. The dinners come with side salad. We ordered wine by the glass, also our friends ordered bottled beer and a mixed drink. Wine pours seemed stingy. The side salads were sparsely dressed, garnished with pignoli nuts and cheese, and featured lettuce greens that had brown spots on them. Adding olive oil- a bottle of which was on each table- helped the flavor. The special of stuffed shrimp was promised with crabmeat, scallops, shrimp and panko crust stuffing. The shrimp were difficult to remove from the shells, and the stuffing overly breaded (not tasting of panko). The seeming star of this dish was the side of risotto, nicely cooked, but the sauce tasted sour to my taste buds. I sampled the petit filets, which, although grilled, lacked the grilled char I expect from such a steak. And serving them over a bed of mashed potatoes caused these to have a mushy texture. Service was friendly and professional. The dessert menu seemed only marginally enticing so we decided to go elsewhere for that. Overall, our experience here fell short. Perhaps the dining experience might be better on a night when the restaurant is not serving up parties in the small dining area.

I heard so much about this place we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere seemed cold as we sat in the front with the take out. I had a small white pie and my wife had cheese ravioli. Our friends had subs. The subs came out first. Seemed small to me but the price was small also. My wifes ravioli was luke warm and she sent it back to be reheated . I was still waiting for my pizza while everyone started eating. People at the next table who came after us got their two pies already. I was having nothing special. It was ok when it came. I would not run back. I have great pizza places in Guilford
