Reviews on Italian food in Biei-cho, Hokkaido, Japan. Biei-cho is an artist’s canvas of snow-capped mountains and fields swaying with lavender, poppies and bright seasonal blossoms. Art galleries feature the beautiful handiwork of local artists inspired by their surroundings, and the Panorama Road is an aptly-named path to all kinds of sites, particularly local farms and craft workshops. Sup in a charming café to get the true essence of Biei-cho.

Emailed the restaurant to book - lunch sessions were booked out (restaurant only has 16 seats) so had dinner instead (8000Y per person). The size of the dishes were quite small but the flavours were innovative with respect to local produce. Amongst the favourites were sea urchin with tomato jelly, green vegetables, prawn pasta, biei beef (melts in the mouth) and asparagus brûlée with asparagus ice cream and candied asparagus. The location of the restaurant is off the main street and was quite tricky to find if dark. They also have a reservation only policy (signs stuck outside). Overall would recommend but would come with not an empty stomach.
We were there for lunch on a rainy day. The restaurant is in a wooden house. It served mainly pasta and salad. There was only one gentleman in the restaurant who seemed to be the owner. He was the cook too. We could not speak Japanese but the menu had food pictures. We tried a few dishes of pasta, they were all hot and delicious. Coffee was nice too. It was a pleasant lunch on a cold rainy day.

Unexpectedly found the nice place at Biei. A bit italy flag at the front door. Homemade pizza by handmade stone oven. Freshly salad with organic vegetable and tomato which grown by the owner! Taste was so fresh and raw~~also the desert.the place was small only served about 12 ppl about at the same time. The shop closed about 8 pm that is really late night for Biei. Also the small park nearby name éè¥¿å ¬å can found sakura. Small but feeling good.Highly recommend!
Hokkaido, Japan Food Guide: 5 European food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Biei-cho
This is a family runned restaurant in the beautiful town of Biei which serves excellent French/ Italian cuisine. Good service. The owner/chef had a good attitude. He was very welcoming and explained the menu (which was in Japanese) to us despite his limited english. We didn't speak any Japanese. Food served was excellent, one of the best Western food I have in Japan. Good variety of wine and beer to select from the menu.Ambience was nice and cosy with an European feel. Good background music.Extremely pleased with the good service and the excellent food. The guy is a good cook. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone passing the town of Biei.
