Popolo serves Italian-inspired farm-to-table cuisine in a casual setting at the Windham Hotel in Bellows Falls. We work to create a varied, affordable menu using mostly locally-sourced ingredients and an exciting drink and wine list. We also promote a wid
Other than poorly done pizza, this was the only option in town on the night we chose to go. The setting is beautiful and simple, located in an old historical hotel. Only three tables were filled, so the ambience was quiet and nice, as my friend and I were there to catch up after a long time of not seeing each other. The service was prompt and the woman who seated us was friendly and full of smiles. Our waitress on the other hand never smiled once and looked really unhappy to be there. The food was a little disappointing. I had the mushroom and pea risotto. This dish really lacked flavor other than a very sharp and dry Parmesan cheese taste. The mushroom flavor was undetectable which was sad because that was the part I was looking forward to. My friend had the gnocchi, Which had a beautiful and flavorful mushroom sauce over it but the gnocchi was gummy and not good according to her. For dessert we had panna cotta with a fresh strawberry purée drizzle over it, which was outstanding!

This is a locally owned pizza house in a residential neighborhood (so only street parking, no parking lot). For my taste the dough is too thick and the sauce too sweet and the list of toppings limited and not always totally fresh. That said Famous certainly has its faithful followers. Eat in area is small and they do not take credit cards, so hit the cash machine down the block before you go.

Returned to this place after 5+ years of not being in the area on an early Friday afternoon. The place was empty, which should have been our first clue.We got our go-to favorites, a special and chick/bacon/ranch. They were okay but no where near as much toppings as in the past. Just enough to say it had everything on the special. Both were so salty you could barely taste the toppings. Prices were average. The dining room is in dire need of repair and/or upgrading. Tables and seats were worn and dirty. The carpet, well, I wonder when it was last cleaned. Dusty too. The mens bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Unclean, smoke stained, filthy.I would assume volume and little competion are the main reasons for the lack of improvements.
