This is a bit of an odd review as Da Rosanna was not even open so we did not eat there. We went for a walk around the edge of the lake and when coming by Da Rosanna, the owner was outside decorating a flower pot with tiles. We said hello and she came over to the fence and passed us two pieces of pizza from her lunch and half a beer. If this is how she treats visitors walking by, imagine how nice it would be to eat there when her restaurant was open. Oh, and the pizza with pickled artichoke was imaginative and tasty.

The meal was standard (quality/price acceptable), the place is nice both the interiors (with wooden furniture pub's style) and the open air tables (just outside the town ancient walls with a beautiful view of the mountains), nothing to say about the service since the restaurant was almost empty. The problem was the TV on and at high volume... that ruined the atmosphere.

Contorni salati oltre misura.Non tornerò di certo!

Colleverde's an old favourite with people in nearby Apiro. Local marchegiana cooking, all good - especially, I think, the gnocchi and the tagliatelle. Before the meal you can wander out and let the bracing country air give an edge to your appetite. There's a fabulous view down to the bridge over the lake far below. The only problem with Colleverde is finding it. Leave Apiro by the road going towards Frontale, driving slowly. After about half a kilometre or so, you'll see a little yellow sign pointing left, up a narrow track, with "Colleverde" written on it. Go up that track for four or five hundred metres and you'll find the restaurant on the left. Prices very reasonable. Best to ring before and tell them you're coming, especially when there's a a public holiday.

We had Sunday lunch here after riding our bikes from Cingoli to Elcito and back down to Frontale, so we were hungry! We ordered the meat, cheese and grilled veggie appetizer for 2 (for 3 of us), and it was enormous and quite good. They forgot the veggies, which was disappointing, but the waitress was so busy, I completely understood. We each had a pasta and dessert, plus coffee. The pasta dishes were all very good, especially the ragu. Total for each of us was 18 euros. Excellent price for good, filling meal.

Enzo's is celebrated all over the district for its substantial, old-fashioned cooking, the speciality being delicious, home-bred duck (sometimes goose too), served as a main course and/or made into a 'ragu' for pasta. Extremely reasonable prices. Good local wine. People come from miles away to eat there, so it's advisable to book, especially at weekends and when there's a holiday. Not difficult to find - it's about two kilometres outside Apiro, on the road going towards Frontale.

We were a group of four who were reccomended this restaurant by the owners of the Villa we were renting - Great reccomendation. We were greeted by the owner and sat outside for a drink before our meal, the waiter appeared with a whole Parmesan round and proceeded to break bits off onto the platter it was sat on for us to nibble on with our drinks, pure theatre, i loved it.Two of us chose to share a fiorentine ( 1.2kg pure Marchiagno beef ) and the other two opted for fillets. Our steak arrived and was carved off the bone at our table by the waiter, the waiter ( owner ) is passionate about the quality of his meat and when asked about the breed of cattle he produced the certificate of origin for this particular cut.Quite simply - a fantastic piece of beef. The 2 fillets were devoured with equall appreciation. We finished the meal with various preserved fruits in alchohol. This stands out as one of the best steaks i have eaten and i have eaten a few steaks in my time.

We were advised that the antipasti were worth going for, and hefty. What an understatement! We never got beyond them. Four of us, staggering after the series of very good starters - wide variety, cooked and fresh, from baked soufflé cheese to bruschetta to crisp vegetables and cured meats. Very decent local verdicchio. A family place, we were served by two lads (twins?), one smiling, one not. There was a large birthday party on the go at the same time, filling much of the place, but service was good. And it's on a hill near Lago de Cingoli for a swim after.
