Charming Italian restaurant opened by a recent expat with mouthwatering wood-oven baked pizzas!
Dans la ville sur la baie un petit embarcadère pour petits bateaux, une petite plage fréquentée surtout par les jeunes le week-end.Aucun intérêt.
The restaurant is a long tube formed restaurant directly next to the pavement. You pass it during the day and it looks quite unimpossing. In the evening there are tables and chairs on the pavement, crowded with locals sharing pizza. It's a very vivid place with an ambience, which is certainly unusual. The pizza is very good and served quickly and it's an interesting feeling to sit on the pavement having dinner watching people and some (not a lot) cars going by.

Diego has quite a few options for pizza, but recently opened Oh! La! La! Pizza is the best pizza we've had yet. They've got a big menu with tons of options for different pizza types, including many toppings and combinations I haven't seen anywhere else in Madagascar yet (and great combinations too, not simply novel). Each pizza can be purchased in either medium or large size. I'd say a medium is usually enough to satisfy one person and a large usually enough to satisfy two, if you don't have a huge appetite. Their pizza prices are average for the area, and a few of the options are cheaper than average. They're all still cheaper than La Gastro (the much lower-quality Madagascar chain pizza restaurant). I can't recommend any one pizza because so far I've loved all of them a lot, but the "Lune de Miel" is an interesting and delicious combination of creamy, salty, and sweet. The 4 cheese pizza also uses some great high quality imported cheeses, and the 4 seasons pizza is one of those where each section of the pizza has a different set of topics (great for trying a variety). But seriously they all taste great. They have several appetizer choices (the basil, mozzarella, tomato salad is good - we enjoy it with olive oil and bread, but you sometimes have to request the oil and bread in addition). They also have a couple non-pizza choices, like lasagna and pasta, but we haven't tried them yet. They also have tons of options on drinks, some well-priced, and some a bit expensive. Their milkshakes really are good compared to what's typically offered in the area. They also have several desserts that are excellent and well-priced... definitely try the "apple pie" ("tarte de pomme") - it's way better than a typical apple pie - excellent! The atmosphere is somewhat non-existent, as it's simply road-side seating under an awning. But at least it's not an especially busy road, so there's not a ton of traffic to bother you. The clientele are usually a 50/50 mix between Malagasy and foreigners.Oh, and they do have delivery options, as well as a buy 5 get one free pizza (delivery only) - but we haven't tried their delivery yet so we can't comment on the service.

We tried several restaurants in Diego Suarez and La Rosticceria is by far the best one.Being Italian we truly enjoyed this real Italian restaurant, especially after 2 weeks eating only rice and chicken or rice and zebu (quite good but a little bit recurringâ¦)- Delicious pasta (homemade pesto) and delicious fish (sicilian style). Homemade ice creams - The owner is Italian, very nice and welcoming- Small though suggestive location on Diegoâs main street

Visited Su e Giu during our stay in Diego, went there for dinner after reading the great reviews. The food was amazing, possibly the best meal we have had in Diego. I would definitely recommend trying Su e Giu but beware, the owners we extremely rude to us. Initially the owner didnât acknowledge us and we had to wait a long time when we had finished our food, even though there wasnât a lot of people there. She was actively shouting at her staff in front of all the customers and was clearly unhappy to be taking our order when all the other staff were busy. There was an extra charge on the bill for alcohol that we did not have, which we pointed out to the server. The owner was made aware of the error and rather than apologising, she decided to stare and point at our table whilst continuing to shout, as if we had done something wrong. We payed the final bill and left, only for the owner to bellow at us down the stairs because we had misinterpreted a number on the bill that looked to be another number. When I explained this, she completely ignored me with no apology or understanding. Despite the great food, the disgusting behaviour of the owners means that I would never come here again or recommend to those visiting Diego. Dear Customer good morning, we have received your review and first of all thank you very much for your appreciation on the quality of our food, secondly we apologize for the misunderstanding happened with your table. The reproaches you heard were addressed not to you but to the waitress who took the order and managed your table, creating,in this way,the error on your bill and putting tension / here is the order of the day /Thank you in advance for your understanding. We hope to see you again, wishing you a good holiday.THE DIRECTION
