After traveling to Friday Harbor, we came back to Anacortes in time for a late dinner. Ciao Bella seemed to fit for us and we werenât disappointed. The owner himself (who is really Italian) waited on us. We had a very tasty pasta primavera with nicely prepared vegetables and gluten free pasta.

We had a hankering for pizza so stopped here for lunch. Some interesting topping options; I had oysters and artichokes on top of mine. Service was very pleasant. The room is decorated with old photos of Anacortes fishing boats and ferries, all captioned so you can learn a lot about Anacortes history.

Authentic Italian cuisine. Full bar with a extensive wine selection. Family owned, operated, and friendly.
I am very critical of Italian restaurants because I am first generation Italian-American and travel to visit my relatives in Italy often. I am the first to admit I'm hyper critical of Italian restaurants. So my husband and I had dinner here last night. We were greeted warmly and had excellent service throughout the meal. It was very busy so reservations are a must. The ambiance is an improvement over H2O however noise level was high. Lots of pots and pans crashing in the background (maybe a good thing?)Now for the food! I ordered lasagne and my husband had the rigatoni with sausage and peppers. People have raved about the lasagne and as it's something I rarely cook anymore I decided to try. Maybe I got the dregs but my lasagne had little pasta and was more cheese and sauce than anything else. I also felt the portion was small for the $21 price. My husband's dish was excellent and twice my portion size. Bread was a small sliced filone. Too small if you like to sop up sauce Italian style. Wine choices are very good and overall moderately priced. I was surprised to see only three chicken options under the meat section of the menu. Lamb shanks and seafood risotto were offered as specials. Here are some menu suggestions that I'd love to see: one or two veal dishes, arancini for an appetizer, and maybe Anacortes would like to try cacio e pepe? The website needs some work as well. I know they have only been open about a month and there is always room for improvement. So I wish them buona fortuna and I hope they grow and prosper in this great town!
