Fun experience being a healthy mix of Italian and Austrian influence of language, cuisine and atmosphere. Our meal was very good and well served potato-mushroom soup, and cheese polenta with sausage and fungi. Our waitress was friendly and engaging and spoke 3 languages which made of a lot of fun. And of course the beer was good too.

The last day of the Year 2017, after an excellent sporty morning, we decided to have our lunch-break on the terrace of this nice Baita. The sun was shining, the sky blue, the recent snow was all around us and not so many people were populating the terrace. Simply magnificent! After some minutes of relax and contemplation of the beautiful environment and panorama, we placed the order for the food and beverages: a selection of various local cold cuts and cheeses and two small draught beers. Perfect choice! The waitress served us very quickly and the bill resulted very honest. This place deserves to be taken into account and visited,

After a lovely stroll from the gondola it was a really nice to find this family run restaurant with spectacular view of the mountain. The homemade pasta with fresh mushrooms were the order of the day.

Excellent food in a pretty little mountain hut. The chef takes personal pride in each dish and took the time to come to our table after each course was served. This takes "local" to a new level...they make their cheese from their 10 dairy cows and forage the wild flowers on the dishes from the surrounding meadow. Nice wine pairings were recommended. If you appreciate fine food in a warm atmosphere this is for you. Note, it was a bit hard to find. On their website, if you click on contact and from that page click to directions, you should be set. We hope to be back!

Villa Madonna was by far the best restaurant we had the pleasure to discover in Siusi and was the culinary highlight of our holiday (which also included Lake Como, so stiff competition..). It's quite remarkable, firstly for the genuine talent and creativity of the chef, and also for the beautiful setting overlooking the rolling hills and the extremely picturesque church of San Valentino. I might add that it's also remarkable for the modesty of the bill... There was a fixed-price menu "degustazione" which we didn't have (it included four courses), but you could also choose à la carte. We dined twice, and a three-course meal with starter, main course (primo or secondo) and dessert, plus a bottle of wine and mineral water, came to between 70 and 80 Euro for two. The dessert portions were so generous that one would easily do for two (though we devoured one each...)! Our dinners were voyages of discovery... so many subtle flavours. The menu changes all the time, so I'm not sure if there's any point giving particular tips... If the cappucino al forno is on the dessert menu, go for it, it's utterly original and exquisite! It's a kind of baked cappucino cake, warm and melting... hmmmm! It comes fresh from the oven and takes about half-an-hour to prepare apparently, so remember to order it at the beginning of your meal. We also sampled a melon mousse with chocolate something-or-other (my descriptions are hopelessly insufficient, I can't describe food with any detail, but please just believe me when I say it was a treat beyond comparison). I wish I could do justice to each dish, but everything is refined, imaginative and so artfully presented that it seems a shame to disrupt the picture and tuck in! How they can produce such quality at such reasonable prices is a mystery to me, but clearly cuisine here is a labour of love. (It stood out all the more in the Tyrol region, where in our experience, cuisine is often somewhat stodgy, or at best unimaginative). The Villa Madonna is mainly a hotel, and there's no sign outside to tell you about the restaurant. However, non-residents are perfectly welcome, but you have to book (we dropped in during a walk a day or two ahead). The hotel reception can seem a little bit formal, but do not be discouraged... You can ask to see the menu (though it changes all the time) and they're very open to accommodating any special dietary requirements. In particular, they offer gluten-free options, but we didn't try those. The restaurant itself is very friendly, welcoming and relaxed. Although it's a little outside Siusi, it's a very pleasant 15-minute walk from the village for those without a car (on foot, take via Henrik Ibsen just after the bus terminal, then first left onto via Fasslfun and keep right at the bend... the lane becomes a grassy path with stunning views, and the hotel is just at the end of the path. What better appetiser, but with comfortable shoes! Take a torchlight for the return home - beautiful on a starry night... or otherwise you can just follow the footpath along the main road, which is well-lit). Again, being a hotel, service does not go on late, roughly between 7.30 and 9 / 9.30 (we got there a bit before 8 p.m. and had plenty of time to enjoy a relaxing meal).Five stars for the food, the creativity, the beauty of the surroundings, the incredible value and the very nice people.Dear Inishbofin2016,thank you very much for your fantastic feedback and this amazing report about our restaurant! Newly opened mountain hut in a beautiful panoramic position on the Puflatsch ( 2,000 m ) ; wonderful view of the entire Seiser Alm ; typical tyrolean farmers room; and lodge where tradition meets modernity . Newly created Tyrolean cuisine with a touch of
You are half way up a mountainside desperate for a drink and something to eat when this cafe/ restaurant comes in to view. The views are simply stunning and the owner even provides deck chairs for you to soak up the views. The service is very friendly and incredibly efficient with most food arriving within a few minutes. The menu is large but what is great is that the prices are reasonable. We are not talking dirt cheap, but the food quality is excellent, the restaurant is lovely, and you are paying reasonable prices. Try the apple strudel - it is to die for, and a big generous piece is only â¬5.00Something else worthy of a mention is the bathrooms. Not only are they beautifully appointed, but they are spotless.

We stopped and had a late lunch outdoors at the White Wolf. Breathtaking scenery, beautiful weather, great service. And the food! The food shows the cross-country heritage of a place that might be equal parts Italy, Germany and Austria. My grigliata mista was quite good, but the absolute hit of the meal was the polenta con formaggio & fughi. Grilled perfectly, with the tiniest bit of crust, there was just the right mix of crunch and melt-in-your-mouth lusciousness in every single bite. In our family, we tend to share a few bites of everyone's meal, but today it was practically a showdown as to who would get the most of this wonderful delight! Oh, and did I mention the scenery? Wow. We loved our stop at the Wellness Hotel!
