Reviews on Italian food in Agrigento, Province of Agrigento, Italy. Though Agrigento is a modern city of about 60,000 on Sicily’s southwest coast, the majority of visitors come to experience the past just outside of town. At the Valley of the Temples (Valle dei Templi), citizens of the then-major Greek colony of Akragras began building seven Doric style holy monuments in the sixth century BC. The nearby Archaeological Museum helps put everything into context. Agrigento also has some fascinating sights in its old town, like the medieval Norman cathedral.

Food was great, but it was a very hot data and we did feel the service was a little slow - maybe an extra staff member would have helped?

If you are traveling at Agrigento, interested for a kind of traditional local food into a complete informal place, this is your occasion. Outside there are some tables where sit to taste the plate ordered inside.Order what you like to taste, everything is special, also vegetables that here could be a surprise. My suggestions are to try cavateli, arancine, panino con panelle. Orders also some âcontorniâ: caponata and melanzane fritte (fried eggplants).

Really tasty food, traditional, fresh pasta, good fish - very Sicilian style! Unfortunately I couldn't eat each thing in menu, but I'm sure it will be really good. The staff is sympathetic and really helpful! The dessert was amazing. Would definitely come back.

Wonderful food and service. We took the advice of our great waiter, Vittorio, and ordered roasted sea bream Sicilian style----possibly the best fish dish we have ever had anywhere! The freshest, highest quality ingredients, traditional food with a modern twist---a truly talented chef!

We had a great experience at this restaurant! Owners are very sweet and hospitable. They helped us chose exactly what we wanted from their menu and we enjoyed all of it! I had the homemade potato gnocchi in a rosé and loved it! They also referred us to an amazing winery to visit the next day. I would revisit if I get the chance!

La Scala is actually named for the white cliffs outside Agrigento that resemble a staircase. You could call this five year old restaurant a stairway to heaven. Enzo, the personable chef-owner has fashioned an unpretentious bistro with great food and impeccable service. We had spaghetti with sea urchin sauce and swordfish smoked to sublime. I told Enzo it reminded me of the great opera house and the nightly brilliant performances within.

We expected a decent restaurant, based on the photos and reviews, but it's just a street food kitchen with 4 tables in front.I start by saying that I haven't included my business in the category of restaurants. Evidently Trip Advisor doesn't consider specific differences between varied culinary businesses. Personally, I especially aim at making the customer discover the culinary tradition of Agrigento, particularly if he is a tourist, by selling simple dishes, maybe without precious pieces of cutlery, and I also admit that 4/5 tables under a gazebo don't represent the best of culinary businesses, but at the same time I let my customers to feel welcomed, like in a family (most of past reviews prove my statement). So I admit without any problems that my customers will find a completely spartan "small place", both outside and inside. Thus, I necessarily have to make you note that we aren't a Street Food, as we don't sell traditional Street Food's products. Just look at our menù: you'll see lots of salads, fruit salads, local dishes and so on, all foods that don't have the qualities of a Street Food at all. By the way, thank you for your review: even the bad ones are useful in order to improve ourselves.
