Reviews on Italian food in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Sometimes referred to as the capital of Africa, Addis Ababa is a buzzing hub of economic, social and political activity and home to such notable offices as the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The diversity of its people is reflected in the many churches, mosques and museums, including the Ethiopian National Museum which houses the fossilized skeleton of Dinkinesh, or Lucy, the Australopithecine discovered in the area in the 1970s.

Belvedere Restaurant came highly recommended to me by a friend and I was not disappointed when i went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Their outdoor seating and optional cozy inside restaurant coupled with the warm and friendly welcome by the owners and staff made us feel right at home. We ordered salad and salmon pasta and it definitely surpassed our expectation.Make sure to book in advance as seating can be sparse especially towards the evening.Their new place is located on the new Imperial to Hayahulet (22) road. Tip: Use Google maps with GPS guidance.

Avanti is a quaint restaurant in the trendy neighborhood of Bole. It is very quaint and charming with an outside area that can be pleasant to dine in on a quiet night. The food holds up pretty consistently and is probably the best Italian restaurant in Addis only second to the vanguard Castelli. The wine collection is strong with a wide collection of international and local wines. (Ethiopian produced Acacia is wonderful and the red goes well with most meals.) Equally impressive is the waitstaff at Avanti, who are mostly knowledgeable and helpful. They are super attentive without being suffocating and very efficient. The salads are very fresh and one of the few places in Addis where raw greens did not make me ill. For desert, try the molten chocolate cake that is both decadent and highly delightful. It's certainly not a cheap place- a three course dinner for two with wine consistently strays in the $2000 birr direction. But everything we've had so far has been stellar. Note: the small road it is on can get very muddy in the rainy season, so wear sensible shoes if you are walking there.

The restaurant is conveniently situated in the middle of Addis Ababa. It has very nice rooms for group use, and the service is very good and attentive. It offers excellent hand made pasta. It also has goos range of wines. Authentic Italian.

There are lots of good things to say about this immaculately clean, well-staffed burger and pasta cafe. The kitchen is burnished clean! The servings are huge and colourful. The fruit smoothy I had (this is a non-alcohol restaurant) was perfect. But the "al forno" spaghetti was pasty and quite flavourless. it was served with a generous salad of nice lettuce, ripe tomato, carrot, cucumber and onion but the salad was soaked in a vinegar dressing that cried out for some oil and garlic. The burgers across the aisle from me looked really good so maybe I should have stuck with that.

This club feels like a place all old italian men hang out. I went in the middle of the day and there were not any, but I imagine the scene at night is different. The pizza was real Italian style, with super thin crust and the toppings (meat especially) are up to Italian standards.

Dok restaurant offers its customers good food. This restaurant prides itself on its menu being fresh, authentic Italian. The food is meticulously prepared by an Italian chef with passion in order to satisfy customers' heart and soul. Our aim is to provide
I visited Dok with my family and ordered combo, pizza and steak. The food in general is tasty and especially I liked the pizza. It is slim not thick, good cheese, tasty ingredients and I enjoyed the texture of the pizza. Indoor and out side seating is available. It is located in main Bole area where many other restaurants and shopping malls located. Parking is outside on the main road and it could be a challenge. in general, good food and service and definitely it is one of my choices for Pizza.

Well done to the owners, who have managed to keep the Italian essence of this place throughout the years. Very friendly people. Very good food. Good wine. One sole recommendation: having to bring cash to pay for a business meal with several people is truly annoying; this is 2019 and other places in Addis now allow payment via credit card, so find a way to allow that too...

-Original Ethiopian Arts, paintings and crafts -More than 70 Artists displays their art works -Art framing & Packaging. -Delicious Italian meal & Wine Bar.
My wife and I have been in Africa for the past two weeks. First Joburg and now Addis with a short stop in Lalibela. At each turn we search for art galleries that did not cater to the âlatestâ art phenomenon. We probably toured more than a dozen art galleries. After 3 cities and two Countries, we found Makush. This is the only place that we purchased art work. First and foremost the curator / director Nati was more than helpful. He explained who the various artist were and how they came to his gallery. He had several works from each artist, which allows you to really dive into the vision of the artist. Secondly, Nati was just super nice and accommodating. I believe that great customer service is about the little things; Nati clearly understand it. Lastly, his gallery is a place for rising stars and accomplished artists alike. His selection is extensive, and the various artists styles make his gallery a cornucopia of art. Thereâs no way you walk out without buying art. On a personal note, we left our art in the airport. We frantically contacted Nati, who assisted us by contacting our main contact with Ethiopian air. He didnât have to, but he did; Our artwork was found and delivered to us (in Seycelles) days later. I donât know how many art galleries would have helped us. In short Makush is the place to be. The prices are fair, the art and food are amazing, and Nati is one of a kind! Visiting His shop is right up there with Holy Trinity church.

Phenomenal international and Mediterranean
Considering where this restaurant is (Ethiopia) I ought to give it five stars for being something that really is a good imitation of an Italian restaurant. I went here twice and both times the pizzas that were served were crap, soggy after two minutes and too heavy, but other food was great. The risotto in particular was the highlight. I tried the mushroom one on one occasion and I also had a fork of the seafood one on another occasion and both of those were truly excellent. I wouldn't suggest that Gusto is the first place to which you must rush when in Addis Ababa, I would always prioritise local places, but for those stationed in the city long term and have had enough of shiro wot, this is a most definitely worth a visit.

This is a beautiful Italian restaurant. We are heading out to the countryside and wanted an upscale Italian meal before we left. Everything we ordered was fantastic! We shared the Squash Soup, then the beet salad and the osso bucco. Every bite was divine. The service was as god as the food.
