Discover Restaurants offering the best Italian food in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Best known as the capital of Charlemagne's Frankish empire, today's Aachen sits at the juncture where Germany meets the Netherlands (the Dutch know it as Aken) and Belgium (where "Walloons" call it Aix-la-Chapelle). But Aachen's history goes back even further than 8th-century Charlemagne. Roman soldiers dating back to the 1st century AD cherished its hot springs (as did Charlemagne, who loved a good spa day just as much as the next guy). Aachen Cathedral, northern Europe's oldest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the city's main attraction.

Had a dinner with my mate on Friday evening, no booking, but could get nice place for 2. Recommended red wine was tasty. We also got some little tapas as welcome for free. Was a few home made little Rolls with garlic butter, crispy bread and some black and green olives with radish. As a starter we had tasty Italian soup minestrone with lots of Parmesan on top, if wish it. As main dishes we got thick spaghetti with creamy sause and salmon and my mate got lasagna. Everything was really delicious. The restaurant is highly recommended. I really didnât expect such lovely place in the middle of Rothe Erde.

Not many reviews yet, so time to change that: we had a really nice dinner at Frascati. Very good, traditional bruschetta and carpaccio. Main course tasted good. Unfortunately some of the fried potatoes were a tad on the black side. As a dessert, we had a really nice panna cotta. All in all a really nice restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly staff.

As we have some food allergies we asked what the chef could prepare for us. They did there absolutely best to serve us steak (normally marinated but they washed the marinade off for us) perfectly grilled with pasta (the dish was originally with baked spicy potatoes but they offered us the pasta instead) and salad and a wonderfull olive oil. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed every minute. Highly recommended.

After wandering around Aachen amongst crowds of people in the busy Christmas markets this restaurant was our saviour. The pleasant manageress (a little frazzled with a busy restaurant including a large group of women on a Christmas night out) managed to find us a table. Warned us that there would be a wait but that was fine with us. We opted for easy pasta dishes for quickness, both the spaghetti carbonara and the spaghetti alla nostrana were tasty and filling. Perfect for a chilly evening. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. Another table with young children and a small baby were enjoying their evening too. A lovely mix of customers.

We had dinner here as a family while visiting my son studying at the University here. This restaurant was recommended by some locals some we decided to give it a try. To be fair, there was some race of some sort going on in town so they were seemingly very busy. That being said, we got our drinks and appetizers right away then waited 90 minutes, yes thatâs accurate, 90 minutes for food. We did get it after seeing people seated at a table next to us get theirs easily half an hour before us and they sat downstairs quite a long time after us. Clearly the kitchen was having major issues keeping up which I donât understand. I wouldnât return here again when there are so many great options in this cute town. Food was average at best.

Quality is not within the design of the interior it is to be found in the food. I was here for business reasons and normally it has to go fast. Now at the restaurant Verano we received such a nice welcome and the service remained excellent through the whole dinner. We went for the specials with homemade ravioli, veal liver and a deer gulash and that appeared to be the perfect choice. We had to pass on dessert but topped it off with a nice glass of grappa on the house. Thumbs up people at the Verano.

My family and I decided to revisit this place after we had been there once before and we thought we had come to appreciate its fast service, great food and friendy staff. This time, we had but a few hours to spent in the city so we ordered but 4 salads and nothing else. After 40min of waiting it became painfully obvious to us that we might be spending the afternoon as sitting ducks waiting for food rather than visiting the city. We finally got the attention of our waiter who told us that there had been a mixup of who was responsible for making the salads but that they would be there in 2-3min. After 10min we finally recieved the salads and the waiter boldly declared that we would come to appreciate the waiting-time since the salad had been prepared with an 'extra amount of love'. Unfortunately, I felt the opposite was the case: The hastily thrown together salad was served with too much dressing drowing out the taste of the ingredients and the dry bread was as tough to bite as a dog-biscuit. I had had the same salad here once before - why the lack of repeatability in quality? Anyway, one should never feel happy to finally be able to leave a restaurant and I regret not simply getting up in the middle of waiting, paying for the water and leaving. I'm sorry, but when you can't get the service part right, that's a big red flag. And if you do, just apologize.Dear Leo,we are very sorry that you had a negative experience at our restaurant. This is usually not the case. We do not want to search for excuses, but just apologize for the inconvenience and promise that the next time, we will do it better.Thank you and best regards!

This is a really great Italian place in the centre of Aachen. The menu is relatively small, but the resultant food is excellent. Service is friendly and the ambiance is good too. There are only a few tables, so booking is essential.
