Inis Oírr lies 6 miles off the coast of Connemara. It is the smallest of the three Aran Islands with just over 250 inhabitants. A peaceful haven, with spectacular views overlooking Galway Bay. Situated in a large 1800’s home, in a discreet side street just 100m from the beach, the cafe has a large terrace to be enjoyed on sunny days (not always guaranteed). The joy here is the fresh home-produced produce and local fish catch, especially mackerel with semolina with spices, blackberries and raspberries, home-grown salads and Aran goat cheese from Inis Mór. Very reasonable prices - about only 12 euros per person it caters also to people with gluten intolerance. A friendly atmosphere, with an internet café, the café is open from 11am-5pm from May to early November before the winter weather takes over. This is indeed a memorable café from a memorable place – recommended.

I've seen many of the reviews of this bar which suggest a really good lunchtime experience. Unfortunately our experience on Monday evening July 29th was an unpleasant one. Seeing young guys,so drunk that they are barely able to stand, still being served more alcohol is, to me, not on. This is such a shame as Inis Oírr is a truly beautiful place - it deserves better than this.

This place will only accept customers who have reserved in advance, but DO NOT state this on their website. We found them on google so were not aware. We were turned away at the door despite the fact that there was only one other customer there. Staff member was quite unfriendly about it - we ate elsewhere for the rest of our week in Inis Oírr."Reservations only" is written on the menus at the entrance gate. It is on our website and Facebook page. It is on a sign on the entrance gate in large print. This allows for a massive reduction in waste food and energy, which is something we all need to do. People call up and reserve tables. People from Italy, France, Germany, UK, USA and Canada and even Japan have figured out what a sign saying "reservations only" means and have reserved tables. It is not a secret. We will not tolerate abuse from anyone towards our staff who are very patient. Walking past a sign boldly printed on the gate amounts to a total disrespect of others, both of us and all of the customers who have reserved tables.
